I'm struggling to figure out exactly what I'm searching for here, so I decided to start a thread.

For ECM tuners, how difficult is it to back and forth between the OEM image & the tuner image? I see some of the aftermarket tuners require you to get everything set at the dyno, can you just save that configuration & then go back and forth between the OEM & the saved file from dyno?

Pointers to other threads & info would be appreciated. Struggling to gain traction on my search.

    Cheers

With HPTuners it's as simple as writing the tune file to the PCM, takes a few minutes.
Granted you have to buy the MPVI and the credits to licence it to your truck but once you do that and read the stock tune out of your truck you can reflash it anytime you want with a custom tune from someone like @JustDSM or edit parameters yourself and write them to the truck anytime you wish.
Just make sure your battery is in good condition in both your laptop and the truck and also preferably hook up a battery maintainer before attempting a write to minimize the risk of bricking the PCM.

There's alot of information in the performance and tuning section about tuning and the various options.
