Please tell us what the AFR was in the lean condition you confirmed, the actual number is more valuable to us than your verbal confirmation when it comes to assisting you with where the problem is. The percentage of + LTFT would be very nice to know as well so it's easier for me to point you in the right direction.

As you stated above, it is important to know what your fuel trims are before and after installing the EB. This is valuable data for diagnosis.

    Thanks :)

I didn't post here to get help finding the issue. I don't have enough data to do that yet. I was just providing a data point and recommending knowing your trims prior to and after installing. It just makes sense.

The LTFT was +25. It was as far + as it could go. Which means either I am getting unmetered air in the system, not enough fuel or a terrible MAF reading. Maybe the O2's but I doubt that.

Diag, diagnosing who cares? I'm on my phone typing. You taking me seriously or not it is of little consequence to me.

I will investigate more this weekend and post back my results.

Definitely post back. Don't let a couple distractions take you down. I read your original post and understood what was happening and what you did,,, but I did have to read between the lines a bit and not take everything verbatim.

Have you tried shooting some WD40 around the sensor, when it's installed, to see if the idle changes any?

What is the proper OD of the new O-rings for the Q1? Tried putting it on and even with a bunch of stretching, couldn't get it to fit. I believe I received the wrong part.

    I'll post up the results.

I sprayed around the block and smoked the system. Nothing. So I don't think it is that. Could be MAF position in the air flow or restriction in the air box. That's why my next step is to pull apart the air box and see if there is anything going on.

We only have one O ring that we are sending out for the Q1, just stretch it on and you will be good.

I'd also suggest if having issues that you warm the o'ring up a bit, maybe sit o'ring in the sun for a few minutes. It will make the stretch easier.

Man it's what i was saying. The purpose of the block is to change the position of the MAF in the flow and trick the reading. So you dont have any leak and it's normal to have high LTFT in closed loop cause the system is correcting the mixture so the AFR stay at 14.7 In open loop it's correcting the freakin rich mixture of the OEM setup and do mechanicly what others are doing with a MAF controller like the URD/splitsecond.

The only thing i dont know for sure is what should be your LTFT with the ecoblock. It's sure it should be higher then normal on the positive side (adding fuel). I will expect something like +10 to +15 but Quirt is the one that can answer this one.

I don't think your following me, my LTFT isn't just higher, they are at the maximum and it still isn't enough. That means that the ECU is adjusting as much as it can and I am still leaning out to the point that I am getting pre detonation. I can hear the gas go bang before it is suppose too. Trust me, I understand what the eco block is and exactly what it does and how it does it.

I don't know why yet, but I will figure that out this weekend.

I was having detonation so I took the eco block off and had the T-SB-0044-14 performed. Detonation gone, shifts better and runs better.

Put the eco block back on today with the new o'ring and just from my short trip to Costco it sure feels even better...
Placebo effect? Maybe, but it pulled hills much easier than previously.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
    Quirt,

Just emailed sales about my o ring and also trying to get penciled in on your Dyno schedule for the 2nd of June so you will finally have a Dyno graph for the Eco block on a 4.0 Taco. Just so you aren't shocked when your poor sales guy is confused.

This is what I understand so far

Open Loop (does not read O2 sensor):

    -engine cold at idle
    -engine cold with no load/cruising
-engine at operating temp and with load/accelerating

    Closed Loop(reads O2 sensor):
-engine at operating temp at idle
-engine at operating temp with no load/cruising

    Is this all correct?

Yes this is basically correct. The 02 sensor does not start reading until the sensor is around 800 degrees, so the closed loop function is not enabled until the 02 sensor can supply an AFR to work with.

Because the 02 sensors are not true "fast response wide band" units they only read properly at low loads. So when you accelerate or cruse at higher speeds the 02 sensor is ignored which puts the computer into the open loop fueling mode.

What are the expected LTFT and STFT with the block installed?

What if any changes do these trims affect shifting of the auto?
