Am I the only one that drives in ECT all the time? So much better shift points throughout all the gears. Is there a downside to driving it this way?

Does this make me a vF tune candidate? :crapstorm:

The only downsides I can think of are that the truck drives slightly more jerky, fuel economy might suffer, and you have to push the button every time you start the engine. I have a manual now, but when I had an auto I used ECT quite often but not all the time.

I run it all the time. Suits my driving style so I dont see a downside. Hell, my fuel economy even increased a bit(hand calculated, not the stupid computer).

i installed the ECT on at start up mod on my 16 about 3 years ago. so i guess that answers your question, my ECT has been on for 3 years.
i have posted before for all the na'sayers, drive on a flat road holding steady at 40MPH with ECT on then turn the ECT off and you feel like the truck is slightly breaking.

Only reason why I got Meso Stealth Pro shift knob was for easy access to activating ECT without having to look down and try to find the button. Truck starts then shift, ECT turns on with a click on the shift knob. Now I need to figure what I want to install on the other button.

I think you should use the other button to activate the .50 machine gun mod for bad drivers.

no downside unless you are hypermiling and looking at that 1/10 percent MPG.

if you like it leave it on harms nothing but mpg in those extreme scenarios

I'll save that mod for those slow left lane campers!

I use it when I do a lot of surface street driving. It’s kind of pointless on highways once you get up to speed.

I use mine all the time Except above 65 on the interstate with cruise on.
Always get 18-21 MPG. Absolutely not going to do any "tunes".

It’s 190 for a complete new OEM knob(modified by me), plug and play connectors, wiring, etc. considering just a stock knob is $100-120 it’s not that bad of a price increase IMO.
