ECT Always On Mod - Revisited

I think that works in the short term, but having had a Pedal Commander and an OVTune, I've gotta say that the OVT was worth every single penny. It hurt so bad to shell out all that cash for something that should've been included stock though.

 

Does this t-tap into the cigarette lighter power lead?

 

Nope. Inline connectors. Unplug the 90 degree terminal from the back of the power plug, plug in the ECT Module to the terminals, and press back onto the cig adapter.

 

When will a 2020 version be available?

 

Unfortunately, I don't have a timeline for this. Even before the whole COVID-19 crisis, we were having a hard time finding someone with a 2020 that would let us tear apart their dashboard just to get a terminal size. Once we figure something out, I'll update.

 

I already have it installed on my 2020. Just use both the larger style terminals. The small one was too tight so I cut off your terminals and made my own. The big one fit on both terminals though. The small terminal is slightly larger than your small terminal connection.

Hmm, maybe this is why I couldn’t get mine hooked up to the cig lighter I’m in CT and have a 2020 if you want to check it out? I don’t use my cig lighter for anything, so I’ve just had it unplugged, but the ECT always on works just fine

 

Yeah I just took two bits of wire and had a bunch of quick disconnect fittings. Got two that fit on the cig lighter and crimped them on the two different red and black bits of wire I had after I made sure which was + and -. Got some blades that I trimmed down to fit into the connector that plugs into the cig lighter. Then I just T-taped off those two wire bits, taped everything secure and connected the ECT mod with some T-tap connectors. I also rigged up an additional USB outlet T-taped into the bits of wire while I was at it.

 

Maybe when things calm down around here, we can get together and take a look at it!

Unfortunately due to the pandemic, we are experiencing issues with our circuit board manufacturer in China. When alms things calm down and we can get more circuit boards in, I will update everybody. But for the time being, there are none available.

Does anyone have a picture of the connector that's used for the cigarette lighter connection here? I can't figure out how to make the cigarette lighter connection plug and play.

I have looked for that connector myself everywhere I know of and I have not been able to locate it.
