I have a buddy that can help, but he suggested looking at Shopify since it's simple and inexpensive.

Just received mine in mail today. I see you used a red tap. Wonder if you should have went with the blue taps for the cigarette wire due to larger gauge. As with the other poster who said he lost signal, the smaller red taps can sever the wire as another poster suggested. I still have yet to install but based on my past experience as a stereo and alarm installer this could be what happened.

I used the red... had no issue. I think the blue is too big, as the cig lighter wire is 18 awg.

The OP with the faulty cig lighter used the "add-a-fuse" not the wire tap.

The issues was at the fuse box with the add-a-fuse. I am fully aware that too smal of a tap can break the wire, but the cig light wire is 18-20AWG. The blue may work, but might have an intermittent connection.

That might be true for you but not necessarily for others. Plus, bert yours could still sever later. I'm not criticising, just offering my 2 cents to an already good product.

Like I said, I haven't even been in there yet to see the gauge of the cig lighter wire. So 18-20 awg....wow wow that's tiny and yes could make an intermittent connection with the blue connector.

All good, I like to accept all ideas and criticism:) . I suggest soldering whenever feasible, but I just included the connector as an option. I was a 12v installer for half my life, so I have seen t taps sever wires.

I was just sitting here admiring the heatshrinks and soldering. Good job man. I love seeing people do it the right way.

Like I said, in the 12v game for a while so I'm a sticker for clean wiring, and connections. Pop the enclosure apart and you can really see the attention to detail.(custom made PCB, perfect fit housing, etc) ;)

Installed! (Purple is positive on the accessory outlet if anyone is wondering)

Of course I opened the case first to check out the goods. It's a shame that whole thing is hidden behind the dash.

As far as wire taps go, I don't use anything except Posi-Taps now. I used a red Posi-Tap with the gray tap-end on my install, and it worked perfectly on the ciggy lighter wires. I highly recommend using these any time you need to tap a wire. Plus, they're recoverable/reusable without leaving any damage to the wire they previously tapped.

Question for you on the install. I missed out on round 2 so I'm waiting on round 3 but was wondering if we could tap power off of the USB port instead of the cigarette lighter? I only ask because I never use the USB because it sucks but I always use the cigarette lighter to charge my phone. I figure why overload one when I have another one I never use. Thanks!

So one of my questions earlier was if I ever had the ECT mod on and went to manual mode what would happen? Well after installing the mod this morning which by the way it works awesome, I went to shift in the manual mode and the ECT light stays on the entire time. So I'm not sure if ECT is technically on when I am shifting or not. Anybody else have an idea. Just curious.

I am mostly guessing, but since S mode just limits the uppermost gear, I think ECT mode continues to change the way the transmission chooses which gear to be in.

I am pretty sure ECT is active in any mode "D", Sport, etc.

Normally before this mod, if I push the ECT button and drive, as soon as I switch it into manual mode the ECT would turn off. With this mod the ECT stays on regardless.

I had to try this out on my drive home. On my truck, once in ECT it stayed there, even when switching between drive and “manual” and changing gears in manual mode. Not sure what to say about yours.

I should note I don’t have this mod yet but hoping to get in on round 3!
