ECT Auto Turn ON Module

I stand corrected you are right..ECT should stay on even when shifting to manual mode in our trucks. My question still remains out of curiosity, is ECT actually still functioning while in manual mode? Isn't the whole point of ECT to change the shift points in the transmission in drive mode. Seems to me that in manual mode that would be negligeable as we are technically shifting right?

 

some here including me think it does more that just change shift points. a small few including me think it disables the Atkinson Cycle. do some tests, take of from a dead stop in 1st then do the same with ECT on in 1st and see if you feel any difference. i know for a fact if in D and no ECT and turning into traffic from a stop the get up and go power is way less than with ECT on in D. in both cases i am from a dead stop so it would be in 1st. my 2 cents.

 

Also, S-Mode is not really manual. You are just setting the highest possible gear the truck will shift into. You can see it if you are in S4 and slow down, the truck will shift itself down to lower gears. So it would make some sense that ECT is still functiong in S. Again, I’m hypothesizing and could totally be wrong.

 

I love just starting my truck and having this on. Feels "normal" now. I will say that ect + S4 seems to me the ticket with city driving (95% for me). In D the shifts feel a tad more aggressive.

New to this forum but just purchased a 2017 Tacoma a month or so ago and only drive it with the ECT engaged. Would LOVE not having to push the button every time I start the darn thing... Can I purchase on of these ECT mods from you? if so where do I order?

You wait until he builds more and then drops the release while we're at work and we miss out on it again for the third time and hope to be able to get in on the next run, but deep down you know you won't be able to get in on it and will be stuck pressing ECT On every time you drive.

This product sucks. You shouldn't want to buy it and unsub from this thread immediately.

 

Just got mine installed in about 20 min. Went the posi-tap route off of the cigarette plug, boy the don't leave much slack in that cable. Cigarette cable plug just pulls off, no special clips to depress, just need to work your fingers back there.

Thanks! I started making the power lead a tad longer. Also, try tugging on the factory ECT and cig wires a little and you can gain some more slack.
