I have been driving with the gen 1 version of this since the beginning of September. It will go to 6th gear but you need to go to a little over 75 MPH to make it shift. I do notice 6th gear pulling the truck and a significant increase in the instant MPG meter.

What do you mean by “6th gear pulling the truck”? And do you notice the mpg increase when the truck shifts into 6th at 75mph, or with ECT on (or off)?

The 6th gear .71:1. For every spin of the .71 flywheel you get 1 spin of the gear. the engine is producing less torque than the rest of the drive train.

I see the increase in MPG in when I hit 6th gear regardless of ECT. The ECT moves the shift point to a RMP that is about 75 MPH. I guess I could floor it and increase the RPM. That's kind of what I was doing before this mess.

I have noticed smoother shifts with the new intake horn and the ECT.

Ah,I believe 5th gear is .69 to 1 and 6th gear is .58 to 1 with the auto.

Received and installed today. Taking my time about 15 minutes to install and button everything up. ECT on with ignition! Just one question regarding the fuse tap. How does this affect the power outlets, do they now use the same fuse as the module?

The "add-a-tap" keeps your original circuit fused, and adds another fused circuit. the ECT is on a standalone 5amp(this module pulls little to no power) and your CIG outlet(the spot where you plugged this into) Retains the 15A fuse which is now installed into the add-a-tap connector.

Sorry for being slow to catch on but I had to remove the 15A fuse to install the add-a-tap in the fuse block. How does it "retain" the 15A fuse?

ETA: Never mind, reread your reply and see I'm suppose to install it in the tap next to the 5A. Thanks for the clarification and great product!

    All the things!
How difficult was it to route the tap wire to the fuse box? Any risk of it hanging down and being visible?

Tap wire was long enough to run it under the front edge of the carpet, behind the kick panel, and up to the fuse box. Not visible.

    Yup! Should look like this;

It's practically a straight shot down.
Also... this is why I made an interconnect ~6" after the ECT box. If you more "electronically inclined" people don't want to run the wire all the way down to the fuse box, just unplug the extension and tap right behind the cigarette lighter(my preferred method) But this is not "PLUG-AND-PLAY" at that point.

I'm in the process of installing this bad boy but ran into a problem, the 15a fuse I took out to add the add-a-tap does not fit into the slot next to the 5a on the add-a-tap...am I missing something? Or am I simply supposed to go out and buy one?

It fits, just tight. Push hard on it until it seats like the 5A fuse.

Should fit. The Tacoma uses Mini "low-profile", while the add-a-tap is a standard mini. Should plug into the fuse box no prob

So the legs/prongs on the 15a fuse removed are too short to fit into the slot next to the 5a fuse on the add-a-tap. I'm trying to replicate the picture me-so posted above where he has a blue and yellow fuse plugged into the add-a-tap
