I'd kinda rather have a button on the shifter, maybe on the front like a trigger. Often times at a stop, I'm resting my right hand on the shifter (habit from driving so many manual transmission vehicles). Tapping a quick button there to engage ECT Power would be nice. Then click it again to disengage. All within hand's reach.

You know what if like paddles on the steering wheel when you need to do that downshift to pass, oh and some power to go with that wouldn't hurt

This is was what I was thinking at first but I couldn't find a shift knob with an integrated "overdrive" button that would work on our Tacomas.

The parking release button works just as well. Very easy to find the button without ever taking your eyes off the road.

My thoughts exactly. What were Toyota thinking when the decided to put the ECT button on the lower dash, should be on the shift knob and thumb activated.

@AGLAT I think I am going to modify your mod and make the momentary switch activate by going to S-MODE using a relay. Thoughts anyone? The connector that controls the S-MODE activation and up/down shifts is very close to the location of the wires mentioned in your post.

Anyone know the name of the connector that's on the factory ECT switch? I'm trying to find the male and female of it.

I don’t know the name. It was a PITA sourcing the connectors. But I have male/female along with the JST /RCY pins if you want a set.
