this is how it should be, normal mode with eco button. not the other way around!

mpg should be the same just drive the same way you did before.

let us know when you figure something out

I'll be doing a mod with a TD relay this weekend. I'll likely tap the cig lighter 12dc to power it aND run pin4 on the ECT button through the normally closed realtor pin2 of the ECT.

Or use a solid state relay.

How did you pop off the start button bezel?

    Just pull on it?

    I GOT IT!
This ECT mod has been bugging me:annoyed::angrygirl:

Side note; ECT CANNOT be set to "default ON". (went through the techstream system thoroughly..we could not find that option at all)

    How'd ya do it?;
PAC TR-7 timer module. (had one laying around the shop, so i figured i'd test it out)

    Timer wire connections:
•red AND green wire --->+12v switched power(Purple back of cigarette lighter)
•black--->ground (white/black strip on back of cigarette lighter)
•Blue---->+12V timed trigger output (this will go to your relay and activate the ECT switch)

That's it! The timer kicks on about 2 seconds after the truck starts.

FYI: it is much easier to access the back of the cigarette lighter if you remove the radio bezel surround(pull hard, pops right off), then the entire A/C/hazard/start bezel pops off. Gaining full access.

Ah you beat me to it! Still don't have my parts from Amazon. So much for Prime. They refunded my money and said if they arrive to just keep them. Apparently it costs more to ship them back.

When they get here I'll wire power to the cig lighter and run the signal through the NC at start up.

Good work, but pretty pathetic we have go through this.

is this the TR-7 you are talking about? https://www.amazon.com/PAC-TR-7-Universal-Trigger-Output/dp/B0002J22BO
so the colored wires you are referring to are the ones on the TR-7? do not understand the blue wire..what relay?

Correct, that is the one I used (there may be cheaper solutions out there, that is what I had handy). all colors i listed were off the TR7 module.
Any 12V SPDT relay will work. Go over to your local car stereo shop, they have a ton.
The timer starts once igniton power is applied(cig lighter). It then pulses +12v output(blue wire) to activate the relay. The relay is used to "close" the contact on the ECT switch momentarily(acting like you hit the button). Then the timer clicks back off.
    Cheers!

What I want is for Toyota to put the ECT button on the shifter or their steering wheel.

Well done.Either this mod or some type of switch on the shifter would work for me.

Oh hell, now i'm confused. Is the pink wire from the ect button going to # 30 on the relay as noted earlier or
going to 87a as noted after you put in the timer?
