I don't think it affects gas milage that much, on or off for me I still get 180 miles out of a tank

Ouch, 180 out of a tank? If I get less than 300 out of a tank I get road rage.:frusty:

I'm going to have to try the ECT on after this tank to see what happens. Problem is that I'm in the middle of trying out too many other different things right now (new plugs, air box mod, 2 stroke marine oil in fuel (1 oz. per 5 gallons) and lucas fuel treatment). My baby is probably going to vomit from all of the new drugs I'm giving it:mad:

The good news is that so far, being kind to the pedal and all highway @ 70mph has produced 100 miles at the 1/4 tank mark. I am pretty sure that it is going to start showing signs of drinking heavily on the 2nd quarter though. I want 400 out of this tank at normal driving speeds though dammmmmit!

How do you leave your on 24\7? Do you just hit the button every time you start your truck. On mine, if I turn ECT on it automatically turns off when I turn the truck of and start it again.

I've noticed that when the engine/tranny is cold it has a similar effect to having ECT on: later shift points. Never really noticed my other auto vehicles responding that differently to coldness, apart from higher idle of course initially.

Still not sure how leaving ECT on helps MPG given that there's a direct relationship between piston speed and fuel used ...

Trany tends to stay in a higher revving gear more with etc on. Going 80km/h my truck wont shift into 4th with etc on and will rev fairly high. With it off it will shift and drive along under 2k rpm.

When the transmission shifts in low gears while accelerating, the engine has to work harder in those lower revs. The engine is doing higher rpm with ECT on, but that also means it's not working as hard.

Basically it's like short-shifting in a manual with the ECT off. I keep mine on 24/7

Wtf ima have to try with ect on. I leave od on all times except when getting on freeway or passing as it accelerates faster vs being in overdrive and shifting down. Not sure how that works exactly but I've tried it multiple times and get better acceleration with od off. Also get a short and slight decrease in rpms once it hits close to 60mph. like it's shifting but not. Idk, I know almost nothing about transmissions. Ha. Anyone she'd some light on that rpm change at ~60mph with od off?

Nothing like shifting 10 times every mile to the next stop light, while tearing up the streets at 40 miles an hour...these arent performance cars! 0-60 in 7-8 sec, watch out!

Its funny.. when I was growing up I always thought that people with manuals couldnt afford a real automatic truck. :stirthepot:
