ECT changes the engine throttle response and shift points (correct me if I am wrong). So...
    - since we don't have any shift levers, is electronic
    - if is electronic, there is a program to control it
    - program is stored somewhere in the ECU (truck computer brains)
    - any program can be modified
Instead of OVTune, could somebody swap the ECT programming (copy/paste) in the place of the "normal" operating program and put the "normal" operating program in the ECT place?
Make it normal in ECT and if you want to save gas and hunt gears push the ECT button.

Im also interested in this. Larger tires mess with the shift points.

I think there was a mod for ETC on all the time. It just pressed the switch for you at each start up.

There’s also shift sense pro that changes the mapping as well that isn’t a tune and is easily reversible.

I have not used either one personally as I just push the button or drive in S mode half the time anyway. But good to know. I’m sure someone will dig up that thread.

Pretty sure this ECU is not easily copy/pasteable given how hard it was for an experienced tuner to break down the code to the point of being able to tune it. though what your asking sounds very simple I suspect the devils in the details are many to actually accomplish this.
