Just wondering whether anyone else finds it strange that the ECT PWR button doesn't have a light indicator on the button itself when it's turned ON. I do realize there's an ECT indicator that lights up in the speedometer area, but I would find it more useful to have a light indicator on the button itself. Virtually everything else in that row of buttons lights up when turned ON, but why not the ECT button? For example, when driving at night, I find myself hunting for the ECT PWR button to turn it ON/OFF. Minor issue, of course, but curious nonetheless.

I bought a 2017 TRD Off Road a few weeks ago and I was thinking the same thing...

Annoys the crap out of me. Poor human factors design. I find that particularly interesting since Mike Swears, the Tacoma chief engineer, has a background in vehicle interior design. I find my '16 very comfortable and generally think the interior is well laid-out, but some of the controls and indicators aren't great. And I've put 25K miles on mine, so I'm not going to get used to it more.

Agree, it'd be nice if the button would light up.

You can order the ECT always on module from eBay for cheap and it’s plug and play and only takes a couple minutes to install. When you go to purchase just click make an offer and I think he accepted $35 with free shipping when I bought mine. Has worked for over 2 years now everyday and zero issues, have had my truck to the dealer and they haven’t said anything about it either.

I never use ECT. At any rate last thing i'd want to see is more lights.

You can also buy switches you customize from ch4x4 with leds. Have to tap in to the illumination wires for the leds or buy a connector daisy chain harness from them or someone who sells them here on TW.

This is something that has bugged me. The inconsistency of button illumination in the tacoma. Some buttons light up, some dont, some have little amber indicators to show they are on, some dont.

Same here. I use it often enough I don’t have to look.
