    Howdy Y'all,

I've been doing some research into the ECT Power button feature and I think I've got the gist of what it does. It seems to raise the shift points to give extra power/acceleration. However, nobody seems to have any applicable uses for it. It seems to me that it would be useful for passing people on two lane highways or going up steep hills. Maybe even some off-road use in sticky situations. What have y'all used it for?

Okay, thank you, also, is it bad to keep ECT engaged for longer periods of time? If I'm towing something lon distance would it be harmful to the drivetrain to keep ECT engaged the whole time?

The only downside to using ECT is the higher RPM will reduce fuel economy.

I use it 100% of the time and even found that my gas mileage was higher with it on. I also put it in S5 gear anywhere except the highway and move it to D for highway driving. Works best for me.

I never really used it since I got my truck new in 2004. I thought it was for when pulling a trailer. I used it for the first time the other week. I have a hard time turning it off now. Vrrrrooom!!!!!
