    I’ve done that trip, a couple times, towing too and I’ve seen cars on the side of the road over heated. Heck, that road has portions that you could swear you’re driving down hill but you’re still going up.

    Anyways, don’t over-think it. As you become use to your truck, towing or not, you’ll instinctively hit the ECT button on or off as you won’t like the shifting pattern hunting or holding at that time.

    I do the I-17 often from PHX to FLG.

    Towed a 97 M3 on a trailer up that hill in the middle of summer, July 16th, 2020.

    S4 and ECT on, rocked the AC and good music the entire time.

    13.3 mpg and not a worry in the world.
