ECU issues a thing on Tacos?

    Chatting on another forum with someone who has had 3 Tacos in the past. Claims the ECUs are problematic. He had a 16, 19 and ‘21.. claims he’ll never get another one. Just wondering if anyone has had those kinds of issues.

    If I had to assume, I'd say they're referring to the logic controlling shift points, throttle, etc., which is all stored in the ECU.

    Regarding failed ECU's, there hasn't been much (if any) discussion here, although it's certainly possible, and probable, for any piece of electronic hardware to fail, but I don't think that's what they were talking about.

    The ECM itself has very few issues and almost never fails.
    The logic (programming) that drives the ECU is the issue.
    It’s debatable whether it’s actually an “issue” or not.
    If it’s doing as it was programmed to do, it’s not an issue.

    If it’s programmed to run like crap, it will run like crap.
