Been battling both knock sensor codes for months now and after replacing both sensors and harness twice as well as double checking everything else that could set off the knock sensor codes, I'm thinking that I have a bad ecu. How common is it for these things to go bad? Anyone had a similar issue or any input? Thanks for your time...

My 2001 threw code after code and after replacing a ton of parts it turned out to be the ecu. So it is probably fairly common

I have a 99 manual from a 4runner if they are the same?

did you use shielded wire on the knock sensors? A lot of times, at least on Supra's, if you do not use the shielded wire the interference code will not go away. I would typically run a whole new wire back to the ecu from the sensor using shielded cable to eliminate any issue with splicings on the wire, sometimes it is corrupted where it cannot be seen. Not sure if it is applicable on Tacos as I am still learning, just a suggestion
