Are there any negatives to resetting the ECU? Aside from taking some time to re-learn your driving habits...

are you just talking about discoing the power?
No issues. Drive aggressive and it should relearn on a 2nd gen.

    Edit: clock, radio stations.

You can just remove the ECU fuse for about 20mins.

No negatives, but your gas mileage may take a bit to settle in after a reset.

I've gotta ask, why are you resetting it?

I just always been curious. Mine has reset a couple times when I've disconnected the battery to do some un-related work (bulb/headunit swaps, splicing, etc). I'd always been curious how after I do this, the idle seems to be at really high rpm for several start cycles. Now I realize it's probably just settling into the new ECU settings.

There is a time period to do the readiness monitors test. You must drive and wait for them to be complete before doing any vehicle inspections.
