Battery died. Recharged battery. Held terminals together for 5 minutes. Reconnected positive then negative. All I get is horn beeping, not rapid beeps to begin reset sequence. Door is closed. What might be the issue?

All I've ever done is charge battery with cables connected, or swap battery when it was dead.

Never had any noises. Started, drove, done.

I've run this sequence (that I learned from a Toyota mechanic) before and it has worked and is necessary to reset the factory anti-theft system.

    uhhh I don't think so

Batteries get swapped all the time. No need to do any special reset procedure

Sounds like an aftermarket alarm system, the stock system won't do that.

That’s a VW trick, not a toyota trick. You cannot reset Toyota security systems with any sequences. It sounds like a security alarm or maybe the battery is backwards

Hit the unlock button on the fob or lock and unlock the drivers door. That might get the alarm to shut up
