ECU TSB Update

I want I want! 20 k coming up soon. Hopefully they have their shit together.

 

15,000 check in 2 weeks. I will be asking for this update if it’s legit. I will be glad to get rid of the power surge at 3500 rpms.

 

Gonna go play stupid with the dealer for this one.

I already learned that mentioning a TSB at my dealer is a no go. They can never replucate the issue. I now have this, and the rear end howl for my 10k service very soon.

I just got that surge in second on my way back from work. Its like power comes in 1.5 seconds later.

 

Unfortunately I am one of those that can't be covered under warranty, so this may be one of my options. Depending on what a dealer would charge out of pocket for an update like this. Thanks for all of the info so far on this subject! Been waiting forever for Toyota to do something about it.

 

You could go in and ask them to do a healthcheck using the techstream because you have a surge very occasionally. Mention to them that the healthcheck will show an available update for the engine ecu and could they please update to take care of a very occasional stutter after 50mph (tsb). Also buy donuts.

 

I'm sure it does look ridiculous, and in fact it is... unless you already have the dongle and *cough* free software. Most of the guys talking about doing this are tuned.

Nah, like others have said, there's nothing OV specific being used to install the software. Techstream, CUW, and an off the shelf dongle. Doubt anything is gonna get bricked in this case.

It's going to be a month or so until I hit 10k, but I'll let you know how it goes at Rodland.

Just curious, did you happen to point out the 04B12 ECU ID in the TSB?

@mkivr32 , if you already have Techstream, then you now have access to everything required to attempt the update to 04B13 if you so desire.

I showed them this whole thread including screen shots of all the pictures but because it doesn't specify MT they don't believe true.

I'd be curious what rodland says...

I'm dropping my truck off in a week or two when my lift shows up @ titus will where I purchased from. Those guys are tacoma nuts like us and would be hard pressed to believe there not already on top of this.
