I am planning to order OV Tune kit. Given that I am flashing OV tune do I still need to flash this TSB? Before or After OV tune? Thank you.

You don't have to apply the TSB to run the OV tunes, but you really want to. 04B13 is a way better baseline than 04B12. From there, you load OVT.

    You're welcome!

I've looked a little but can't find this info - is there much of a benefit going from 04a70 to 04a71 on a 18 manual?

Followup: if/when I update, can I just download a different version of OVtune for that ECU ID or do I need to re identify with OV?
not sure if that is clear enough but maybe someone will get it

Yes. A lot of folks have updated their 2018s with positive results.

If you have a dongle, you will need to contact OVT so that Mat sends you the correct tune files. If you are on FM, you just select the tunes that you need.

Awesome, thats exactly what I was wondering. I have the tactrix I use on my subie and the taco, and if I can just select the tune on the FM that is awesome. Will post back.

Finally managed to get around to finding a working techstream, mainly to stop the auto door lock that drove me crazy. Thanks again

    You're welcome.

Yeah, the Tactrix is all that you need with the info in the 1st Post.

    The TS customizations really help.

Welp, Hit a snag. I am using v 13.00.022 with a .exe called ts_loader to get around registration, but its not working for the cuw files. The update wizard knows its not registered, I may have to try another version of TS. I heard you need TS version > 12 for '18 and up tacos, anyone know if that is true?

The files came from mega.nz though. It is working fine for me and several others.

So... After reading through like page 120 ish with some skipping... I have a few questions and hopefully some experts can help me out.
This 19 is actually my 1st Taco that I actually own. I used to drive an 05 manual for like 3 weeks back in 2011.
Oddly this 19 feels so weird shifting from 1st to 2nd. I honestly don't know how to explain it but I did not feel the same way when I was in the 05.
It's like in 1st, when I go a little over 2k7-2k9 then wait for the RPM to probably 1k6 before I shift to 2nd; it makes a really loud clunk? noise and the truck kinda surges/stalls (whichever the correct technical term is) but not smooth.
But if I shift to 2nd when the RPM is around 2k3-2k4, it seems to be a bit smoother and does not make that loud noise. I think...
My previous vehicle before the Taco was an 06 Civic and it did not make this kind of noise, still noisy but not this loud, when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Am I doing something wrong here?

Truck was manufactured in July 19 and currently has 1k3 on it. I have only had it for a week so I am still learning =)) I will try again both ways and see when I drive it home today.
Do you guys think if it has anything to do with the software?

    a couple things..

yes definitely check your ECU calibration version. those symptoms do sound like all the issues we faced pre TSB (which upgraded to 04B13 from previous). if that's your issue it will be a game changer.

also the ADM, accumulator delete mod, will remove the numbing effect that thing does on the clutch. it can clean up the feel & transition.

take a look at your ECU version first. i think you can access that via Fusion (not sure) but TIS will tell you if you have it setup.

Give it time to break in. The syncros will settle in. 1st and 2nd will take the longest.

That said, even on the crappier, earlier stock tune, I had no consistent clunking and was never dependent on particular RPMs for shifting. Other then that, if I messed up a shift, it was in the higher gears. Most of that was cured by the TSB tune. You should have that TSB tune and more right off the line.

You might consider doing the ADM (because it is just stupid), but I don't think that is going to fix this issue specifically:

yes this, but i should correct myself that the TSB and ECU did not involve any clunk.

Same. It only happened if I got lazy with the shitty stock tune.

can you elaborate a bit more on this Fusion stuff? what is it? I did read through the ADM from your recommendation on my other post and it looked complicated! lol. I mean if it was just the ECU software update then I would like to do that first. Can I just call up the dealership and ask them about the update?
let me see if I can record the noise. I can hear it pretty clear, hopefully my phone can capture the noise also.

But thanks guys. But from 2nd to 3rd and 6th, phew this boy is smooooooth!

@tonered ? i never know how to get that version w/o TIS.

OP see if you can work out either setting up a laptop or hooking up with a local TW user who can help. if your dealer helps you with this, you are in the extreme minority it seems.

I don't even have a laptop LOL. But is the TSB-125018 the most current one? Also, there is a Toyota dealership that is only 3 mins away from where I live, it looks like it has pretty good reviews online. I might call them up. The one thing I notice is that this Toyota dealership does not have that many selections on trucks, seems like they focus a lot more on smaller sedans and SUVs. I don't know if that affects anything but if there is a TSB then every dealership should have access to it. I guess?

Yeah. You need a computer to do the TSB tune. The software and instructions that you need is in the first post if you try it.

Otherwise, you should be on the latest tune since you have a 2019. I have not seen an ECU TSB for it. @Ruggybuggy might have more info though?
