I just put ~200 miles on it today. I filled up with 86 and drove from 5000 feet to 8000 feet, the truck did great and even averaged 22mpg, round trip.

As far as the tune upgrade is concerned, I can echo what the rest of these guys have said. I’ve noticed that the lower gears (1st/2nd) just feel a lot smoother, I don’t feel like I’m overworking the engine just to get it going. Starting from a stop feels so much more natural now, you give it gas and you get something in return rather than feeling like you’re bogging it down.

The throttle as a whole feels a lot more responsive too, you give it gas and it goes... Before I always felt like the gas pedal stopped doing anything after it had been pushed down half way, now the power feels more consistent and relative to the pedal position.

I didn’t have any problems gaining elevation or going up hills, it held cruise control fine, and I also used it in 4hi for about 10 miles and that didn’t have any problems either.

All in all, this is how the truck should’ve come off the lot, I’ve got no qualms at the moment...

However, I was one of the ones that had the ‘stumble’ at 1500 rpms when shifting between 1 and 2, and 2 and 3. For some reason though, that only happens to me when the weather is cold (freezing and below), so I won’t be able to comment on whether that issue has been resolved with this ecu update for a couple more months.

Also, if anyone in the ABQ area needs to borrow the tactrix cable or needs help with the files or flashing, let me know, I’ll be glad to help anyone get their truck running the way it should be.

Am I missing something? The pdf only mentions the automatic.

You really need to read through the posts to fully grasp what is going on with that. The confusion is mentioned throughout this thread and multiple people have asked the same question.

The pdf only mentions the auto, but there are specific codes that are part of this and that’s where it is more specific as to why and how this pertains to the manual also.

Thanks man. Great break down of the improved drivability. Hope you continue to be happy with it. Sounds like it really does make a difference.

It would be nice if the dealerships could get their heads out of their asses so I can have something on paper saying what it is they did.

OK, thanks for being patient with me, when I looked at this thread the other day it was still everyone calling BS, so I thought I'd ask before reading through 10 pages, my bad

You have to understand why some dealerships are confused. The above quote from a Tacoma World member also manage to get his head up his ass.

You would be surprised how much BS, but also how much knowledge you can gain if you take the time to read through this info. It’s your trucks ECU we are talking about. This is important material. I have read every single post and have learned a bunch myself.

By the way, 10-20 pages is nothing on this forum. There are threads well into the 100’s of pages. Best of luck to you and reading is a good resource everyone should exercise on here. I have learned tons of info by just disssecting through off-topic stuff.

Please tell me there's someone in the Ottawa, Ontario area, or within a few hundred miles of here that has the equipment to do this! There's beer in it for you... or cash.

Anyone in the SF Bay Area want to earn some money by updating the software on my ECU? Willing to pay $40 for the trouble. I feel like the dealerships will just have me running around in circles and I don't want to deal with all that.

    PM me if interested
