Yeah all this time I guess I just figured that the stock tune didn't have OL since Mat's initial maps didn't have the feature either. Lol

You guys better go straighten out all the naysayers. According to TW, there's absolutely no benefit to run anything above 87 octane on the stock calibration. ;)

In my mind, Stock just erases all OV Tune info. The only time I didn't see that happening was when the DFCO test file edits thankful stuck around.

I was envious that the AT tunes had OL way before we did. It is nice not caring about what goes in the tank.

Funny thing. I converted my MPG tracking to $/mi. Where I fill up, 87 and 92 is the same running cost. There is definitely a bene to high octane on the tunes though. For me, I just don't need those extra bits in winter.

Well I've been wanting to get techstream running and the reviews of T-SB-0092-20 finally pushed me to buy a tactrix cable. Now to get the software installed on my junky old laptop while I wait for the cable.

All the 04B33 folks seem to really like it.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts.

Hahaha! Given our past convos, I think you'll fly through it.

And honestly with @Shellshock 's step by step guide, I think that most anyone can do it. The only unknown is being able to fully shut down the different a/v software that folks are running. I recently talked with someone that was really struggling only because McAfee was cockblocking them.

I've been running 91 octane in my stock Tacoma for the past couple months since gas is cheap right now, just to see if it makes a difference. There might feel like a slight bit more power and gettyup, but it might also just be placebo. Since I'm just running to the grocery store or Target and back, my MPG sucks anyway (13-14 if I'm lucky), so I'm not really getting a good benefit on that either I don't think. I'm going to go back to 87 on my next few fills and see if I can tell a difference going back to it, and if not probably just stick with the 87.

Going back to 87, whether 1.05 or 2.0, is where I mainly noticed the differences. After a couple hundred miles, it all equals out for me.

I've been waiting for an TSB like others have mentioned and just ordered the Tactrix OpenPort2.0. I'm going to BootCamp my Mac with Win10 and disable Windows Defender to do the flash. I have all the TS software and keygen but for the life of me I can't find the T-0092-20 CUW zip file in the first post. I see the PDF but not the CUW. Am I blind?

Only half blind. :santa2: I kept the CUW file names as Toyota named them. There can be more than one CUW for each TSB.

The heater in the Products box looked interesting and pointed me back to your post. Is what you meant to link up? :santa2:

    You're welcome!

I like the Spoilers for helping clean up the post, but they can be problematic.

so, i have techstream, tactrix drivers, and t-0022-20.CUW, loaded on the laptop, tactrix cable from ov tune. trying to update from 04B31, to 04B33 on my 2019 sport auto v6.

i have an original ov tune, and vf tuner BUT, HAVE NOT OPENED IT OR COMMITTED TO AN ECU NUMBER IN VF, OR UNLOCKED THE ECU/TUNE OPTIONS FOR VF YET. i have just used the ov tune, flashes (latest 2.0 from a few months ago).

am i understanding this correctly? copy and pasted from the spoilers:

Once you are ready to flash your Taco do the following:

-- Key out of the ignition
-- Plug in the Tactrix to the OBDII port by your left knee
-- Double click on the CUW file on your desktop that applies to your Taco
    -- Follow the prompts exactly

    ***********************************************************************************************************************************************************
i have the smart key so, no key, just the fob. do we turn the truck to on, and not start? or do nothing with the ignition, to flash update the ecu? i know with ov, we have it to on.

is this all i have to do to run the cuw, and update/flash to the new ecu spec 04b33?

i am so afraid to brick the ecu, or disable the truck. every time i get into techstream, it keeps asking for user names, passwords etc... i just dont want to get half way through communicating, then lose my truck.

i am more of a visual person, a full video of how to run techstream and flash update the ecu's would be AWESOME, FOR ME. sorry to be "that guy"

thanks for the help guys, glad you are patient, and smarter than I am. Ski

A video might not be a bad idea that would really help clear up anyone's problems or being afraid to commit to the update! If i had a decent camera i would give it a shot but someone with a better camera should do it!

You have it correct. Just hit the PTS twice without your foot on the brake and flash.

You don't need to open TS. If you have it installed, just execute the CUW.

    No videos. Sorry.
