Looks like my ECU has not been updated, correct?

This guide was super helpful. However, if I click "connect to vehicle" right now, the little connection graphic pops up, processes for a second and then prompts for a software update - which I can't get from the TIS website. Is this a result of me not actually being connected to a vehicle (because I just clicked it to test from inside my home) or is this indicative of an issue?

Thats what’ll happen when you aren’t connected to a vehicle. When you click connect to vehicle it tries to establish communication

Also turn off WiFi when using TS so it doesn’t try to check for updates.

I was connecting TS to the vehicle for the first time.

Is it ok to be in “offline mode” when i update the ecu? I was able to read the ecu id and look through a few other things on TS in offline mode.

Yes, it is fine. You can't go "online" without a subscription anyway.

I'm starting to think that @tonered should make the very first thing in the first post large and bold: TURN OFF WIFI BEFORE USING TECHSTREAM

The only problem I see is that there are at least 5 different error messages that you can encounter. This will likely create the same or similar questions. There are probably more though.

So I can use it for customizations, like disabling the seat belt chime?

Yes it will work perfectly fine for everything else (that you would normally be able to do), just the CUW part of the software won't work.

Is there any info on when a TSB update will be released for a 2021 Tacoma? I am waiting to purchase the OV Tune until that update is released.

If any, I wouldn't expect to hear about until the end of the model year or after?

Funny thing, I mentioned the shifting issue to my dealer and they act as though this is the first they are hearing about it. I told them this has been an issue since Toyota put out the 3rd gen. I'm still waiting to hear back from the service manager at Team Toyota...
I'm definitely getting the OV Tune regardless.
