ECU TSB Update

hi guys I'm new here just downloading the software and having trouble with the (new key) I copied and pasted like I was suppose to do but it still wont let me login to techstream. Anyone else having this issue and has fixed it before? thanks for the help this finding of this program is pretty sick ill be sending some beer money!!

I have one question: Does Tactrix work seamlessly with all the features of TS? I just recently purchased a M-VCI from Amazon and it didn't work. I am about to purchase the original Tactrix, but I would like to make sure it works with keyfob programming, customization and ECU and TSB updates and everything else. If it doesn't, what features are not supported? I will be using TS 14 or higher.
I have a 2017 Tacoma Limited DCSB with Push Button Start.

Thanks guys! I just wanted to double check because I read somewhere that some TS features are not compatible with Tactrix. That's why I was asking

 

Nothing I’m aware of. You can do the customizations and apply TSBs.

I've a 2017 and have done everything with the Tactrix cable.

 

I am mostly concerned about keyfob programming and TSB updates. I have an OBDLink MX that I paired with Carista and I was able to do some customizations, but I'd like to unlock the full potential of the Taco! I am glad to know the Tactrix will take care of that

I am about to order one, and I can't wait for it to get here. I've spend the last few days trying to make the China clone work, but in vain. I wish I'd gone with the Tactrix from the start.

 

You and me bother, sir. I did three Chinese clones and another semi-legit version before the Tactrix. If only I had known...

 

Now we know better for next time, brother! I've read in a different forum something that made me laugh, and I quote: "Two things in the world give no guarantee; I Love You and Made in China".
I just placed the order on the Tactrix. Hopefully it will be here soon!

Similar warnings exist for programming key fobs and the Lexus credit card key. I just used a cheap Amazon cable and my Lexus credit card key works fine. Maybe I'll give this a try this weekend.

 

Agreed. It’s well worth the extra $100 for the peace of mind. A new ECU isnt cheap. Plus you’d have a dead truck until you get one or get yours unbricked.

 

Agreed. I've not done all the research, but I have not been able to find first hand experience with someone bricking their ECU on a Tacoma using a cheap cable. Lots of speculation and unproven conviction.

I would love to hear about actual first hand experience. I got tired of trying to find it. For piece of mind, I'd rather take the truck to Toyota then spend $150 on a Tactrix cable...or just get a real tune from someone offering a custom tune through VFtuner.

I'm glad it worked out for you. Others have not been so lucky. The people recommending against cheap cables here do so because of issues with them that you can find right here in this thread from people that have tried them. It's not anecdotal. Thanks for another example @fredgoodsell

We have all been recommending the Tactrix (genuine) because it is known hardware from a reputable vendor at a reasonable price. No one here wants to suggest a cheap clone only to have someone cause damage to their truck. Those cables will work fine for most things like customizations, I even owned one for quite a long time. I personally wouldn't trust them to flash my ECM.
