No nothing else i noticed. But to be fair i did just barely go to 4.88 gearing and i also had OV Tune which i no longer have with this update until it's supported. too many things have changed with my truck in the last week to know if the update did anything else other than CC.

ah cool, thanks for the response. I imagine the 4.88 would make the biggest difference in shifting vs a tsb

I have a 2021 that I got May 1 and I checked my ECU with TechStream. I was 04C20 and I updated to 04C21. I did the update using TechStream. I used Ver 15 of TechStream. Look at first page of @toned "ECU TSB Update" thread for your question/answers. From what I heard the update had to do with Crawl Control which I haven't been able to test.

The CC thing, folks were checking with 4x4 lumber or a similar sized curb.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a very steep hill close to my house but it is part of a city park so I have to be careful when I go on it. The first time I climbed the hill in crawl control, before flash, the Taco got half way up and stopped moving on it's own. I didn't wait to see if it would disengage. I gave it some gas and went on up. I will try again after flash soon. Thanks @toned for all your contributions. You are a huge asset to this forum.

Thanks! I actually got the kdmax tune last week with the torque maps from the 04c21. It fixed a ton of the issues I was having. Still not completely dialed but so much better.

Looking to clarify something here. I have a 19 MT and am currently on 04B41 and have the Magnuson Kit installed. Looking at the nice spreadsheet that was in the first post it looks like I'm supposed to be on 04B42. It also says it's a TSB for the Canadian market. Is that just because they were updating their trucks after ours? I guess I'm just looking to see why there would be two different updates, for two different markets, but they are the same exact update???

The second question would be, *should* I be on 04B42 and then contact Magnuson to get a tune for *that* ECU ID?

I'm still learning this flashing process and what to do in what order, reading, and reading, and reading, and reading again just when I thought I had it figured out. When I flashed the Magnuson tune it was really straightforward and had zero issues, so I know it's ok and will run just fine, but I'm curious to know if updating and flashing the tune for *that* ECU ID may improve things.

Also, since I've already unlocked my current ECU ID (04B41) will I have to buy more credits to unlock the new ECU ID (04B42) if/when I do update it? Would be really crappy if that's the case, and I'll be kicking myself in the ass for not making sure I was on the most recent update...even though the truck has been to the dealer recently and should have been updated accordingly...guess that's what I get for assuming:censored:

04B42 is the latest update for 2019 MTs. vF does not have tunes for it yet. They will release with 2.0 Ultimate. I believe Maggy created their tunes from Toyota Stock, so they should be able to get you on the latest TSB tune.

I would not update to 04B42 without a Maggy tune in hand because you will be Stock which is likely to be bad for you.

You do not need to Unlock the 04B42 ECU ID if you are only flashing a tune. If you want to view or edit it, you need to Unlock it. Those are the breaks. I'm in the same jam with more ECUs to worry about.

Makes sense, I'll have to shoot another email to Magnuson to see if they will give me the tune for the 04B42 ECU ID, and of course, I won't make any changes pending what they decide to respond with.

I think I need to read some more it seems. I'm a lil lost when it comes to using the credits provided by vF in order to make your ECU able to be flashed (is there a dummy guide to understanding the credit system and how it all works?)...or am I combining two different things here??? I just started looking into the vF Tuner Forums as well, so I'm on my way, I'll get there eventually...not enough hours in the day to read all the data that exists it seems, lol.

The best and current approach is to just do what the vF software tells you to do. If it asks for Credits to Unlock something, then spend some. If it doesn't ask for Credits, you're in the clear. You only need to worry if it is asking you to spend Credits on something that you already Unlocked. Unlocks are permanent:

-- VIN Unlocks are permanent for any vF user.
-- ECU ID Unlocks are permanent against the Master Key (license) that Unlocked it.

haha, yeah that's my main concern. Spending money on credits when something has already been bought and paid for. Just a small fear, nothing crazy.
    Thanks for the help man!

    You're welcome!

Just create a record so that you know. It should only be your VIN and then anything you want to edit, unless you are flashing others. As I started flashing others before VIN Credits were required, I have a spreadsheet with that info. Unlocked ECU IDs will appear in the Help / License Info window, like this:

So I have successfully flashed just the one tune from Magnuson but my list has nothing in it...

It looks like you did not open the tune file prior to flashing (absolutely nothing wrong with doing this) so it did not use credits to unlock it.

That is how it should be. The NA for the email address is puzzling though. You may not have a full vF License? Just the Flash Only / Lite License. With that, you will only ever have the original five Credits and should not be able to purchase any more.

Of course, you can convert to a full vF License. I do not know what that cost difference is.

I wonder if that has anything to do with using what Magnuson provides you with the s/c kit? When setting up the software you go through Magnuson to get your license and everything so that you can flash their tune. I wonder if it's limited in that aspect because I didn't actually buy anything from vF?:confused::confused:

I do believe that is what you got. One of these:
    https://vftuner.com/collections/vf/products/vf-tuner-pro-tuner-remote-kit-bundle

I believe it was noted that you can upgrade to a full license. Of course, that would be the day that you get an unlocked tune that you can edit. The current Maggy tunes and any coming from other dyno shops are likely to be locked also.

Maggy will provide you any VF updated flashing software required to flash their Tune to your Maggy installed Taco along with any revised Tune for your Taco. You do not need to contact VF for anything. If you have the newest VF software (Lite or Full) you will be able to flash the Maggy tune - or as said just use the software Maggy provided to flash the Maggy Tune. VF (OVtune) has nothing to do with the Maggy Tune - they only provided the software - so when you purchased the Maggy SC it came with the software (VF in this case) to flash it.

Ok, that makes sense then. I'm not looking to modify any tunes. Just maybe flash tunes for friends or possibly learning enough about what some of you are doing and doing it as a side gig. Still a lot of learning to go before I take that risk though. lmao
