I went to the dealership for my 15K ToyotaCare Visit and requested TSB-0092-20. I got the TSB .. no problem.. but it was rolled up into the 04b82. So now I have to wait before I can get KDMAX6. Hopefully soon.

That's proper and what dealers should be doing. They need to hit literally three buttons to make it happen. Connect to Vehicle, Health Check, and Go.

A couple more click throughs and 10min later, it's complete.

The dealer that i bought the truck from did that tsb-0092-20 before i took delivery of the truck when it had less than a mile on the odo. The transmission worked really weird the 160 mile trip home, and for about 1200 miles, but got better and better. Its perfect now at 10k miles.

Good info. I might should put the tune on hold, and give it more time then.

I updated to 04C21 recently and didn't notice any difference. It's suppose to fix an issue with crawl control. I haven't had a chance to check out crawl control since I did the update.
I used Techstream and updated myself. I spent $25 and joined a forum where you can get Ver 15 of Techstream. It's a PITA IMHO but it's done now so I'm all set. @toned has all the instructions in this thread I believe. First post.

Yeah. MHH is a bit of a pain, but thankfully, it is easy for future versions or other software.

Thanks for this post. I may just wait a while for another update, hopefully specific to the transmission issues. On the other hand, knowing there is another/better way to improve it, I'm not sure I've got the patience!! Lol

After updating to 04C21 do I need to let my truck idle for 10 minutes like I do after installing another tune?

No. You can flash right away. I only been idling for about 2.5min. The engine seems to settle in and be smooth by then.

So I was sent here by TwTaco for instructions on how to load TechStream & the TSB/ECU update CUW files? I'll be honest this is all a foreign language to me haha. I have zero clue what any of that means. Basically I'm on an old vftuner version (which is crazy considering I just paid like $700 for this from OvTune in January) and I guess I need to update to 04B04? TwTaco told me to email Mat at OvTune to let him know I need this upgrade so I did, however I'm sure they don't answer customer support emails on weekends. I noticed a difference when I tuned it myself in January but have added weight, lots of lights, and a 3" lift since then. Heard great things about the KDMax Tune and Chan Tune. Want to try the KDMax first.

Can anyone explain to me what I need to do? And I mean hold my hand like a damn child and explain it like you're talking to a 5th grader haha. I can personally install 100+ mods to my truck but once computers and tech get involved I'm toast! I tried to be as detailed as possible above but if I left something out let me know! Here's the OvTune connect I have and my calibration identity (I think that's what it's called). Thanks in advance! This is why TW is amazing!

Everything you need and step by step instructions are in the first post of this thread.

once you’ve got techstream installed, you just run the cuw file and follow the onscreen instructions. It’s pretty idiot proof

    I just updated to 04B04.

    I downloaded the cuw file.

    I purchased the tactrix openport.

I installed Techstream and got it working.

When I installed the update I just double clicked on the cuw file and followed the prompts.

Do you really need Techstream to install the update or tunes?

Could I have saved money if I purchased the vftuner instead of the tactrix? I do plan on installing a tune in the near future.

You need techstream to apply the TSBs

You need a tactrix for the tunes (either purchased from tactrix or vf)

Thanks and thanks for the TS install directions. I had some hiccups but reading through your directions a few times I was able to get it working.
