I was just reading back through that first post and have a question regarding V14 and V16. Can someone still apply TSBs on 2021 AT tacomas with V14 being that TS doesn't actually have to open for the update? Is the benefit of V16 purely for customizations, etc?

Sorry Tony. "Follow to the letter". Got it.

When I click on update it welcomes me to TIS and has drop down windows for USER TYPE and what looks to be AREA but there's not a North America choice. Are these choices critical?

That is exactly it. V14 cannot do diagnostics or customizations on 2021s and newer. That might be 2022? I can't remember.

    No worries.

Yes. NA is what you want.

Thanks! I'm going to start playing with customizations next week. Just door chimes and seat belts for now haha

But there isn't a North America option.

EDIT: ah you get different choices in the drop down list depending on what USER TYPE you choose.

How did you get there? TIS is the online component that we do not want to mess with. TS, as posted here, is intended for Offline Use only.

That's what I was afraid of! LOL

After installation I clicked on CONNECT TO VEHICLE and this window popped up.

EDIT: But when I update my ECU I double click on the .cuw file WITHOUT opening TechStream correct? Maybe this isn't an issue then eh?

Yes. At this point, you need to hit Update Now, then close the browser that pops up.

From there, turn of wifi and try again:

In techstream v14, I turn off Wi-Fi to get past the forced update message, but then once I connect to the vehicle and check for ecu updates i am forced into offline mode, even if I turn Wi-Fi back on and have the computer connected back to the internet once I'm connected and past the point where you get the update message? hope I explained that right. does anyone have any advice, am I doing something wrong?

You don’t do anything in ts after you get it installed. You just run the cuw file and follow the directions.

Thanks, the part I’m not getting now is the cwu file. It’s the new coals ration listed on the tsb, in my case 04b14? When I click in it it says can not load

This might be a dumb question, but did you unzip the .CUW file after you downloaded it from the first page of this thread?

That might not be necessary, but thought I'd ask.

That might be my problem, thanks! I’m really not great with a lot of this computer stuff.
