Hey Tony did you get your Meso’s yet? I got mine today. Shipping was super fast and install was a breeze.

No. They're at the local distribution facility. Tomorrow is the day!

My Dashtop Multi-Mount arrived two days early. Last Saturday. So, no complaints. Hahaha!

Yeah, I cracked one of the stockers in the first month. It is an easy swap.

So just take your time with these cause there are a few attachment points, and when you put them back in you have to kinda put the new ones in at an angle to fully seat them, but you will do it in mere minutes.

I’m so happy I did it though. First thing I bought from him. Gonna probably grab the interior light double set ups next time. Just gonna wait a bit for them even though they are currently available now.

Keep me posted on how you like them and just remember the mirror things pop unexpectedly when you are prying. Lol.

So for those of you following my search for a more affordable cable, I tried the VXDIAG Cable this evening. It bricked my ECU. I initially had a good feeling about the cable--the packaging was nice and refined, the USB cable seems like a good quality one, the driver installed easily, and it came with a utility to update the firmware online. This gave me the confidence to move forward with the upgrade. Unfortunately, once I tried the update, the update process started and then choked about 2 seconds later. I lost my connection to the truck and was unable to connect again. The instrument cluster screen complains that my oil pressure is low and a couple of other things. Starter turns but the engine does not start. I am devastated but I am here to warn others not to follow my path. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT TRYING TO FLASH THE ECU YOURSELF WITH ANYTHING BUT A TACTRIX CABLE.

Also, I followed most of the precautions mentioned here:
    -Win 7 x86
    -Physical machine
    -Disabled USB Power MGMT
    -Disabled Windows Update
    -Connected battery tender
    -Disabled Windows Sleep
    -Turned off all electronics
-Disabled AntiVirus and closed all unnecessary apps

Damn, sorry to hear that man... but the community definitely appreciates the share.

Definitely reach out to @OVTune... I believe someone else had a similar issue and was able to reflash. Heck, I think it's buried somewhere in this thread.
    :fingerscrossed:

Heck, where are you located and do you need to borrow a Tactrix cable?

    Edit: Found it!

Yeah, the cover popped off with a surprise last time. I will use a shopping bag this time.

Thanks for the tips! Looking forward to it.

I bought a seven switch panel from him a while back. Given the amount of stuff that I need to pull to install it, it is still on the shelf. I have a couple mods waiting for that though.

My next two are the dome and map lights and then not sure. I want to get the depo heads and tails to black out all the exterior lights though for sure.

I would like to get Meso’s taillights but I just can’t throw down that kinda dough right now just for tails. They are badass, but I just can’t justify it at the moment.

I may do the fuse cover, coin holder, and gasshole at some point though.

Thank you guys for your support. Up at 6am this morning to pull the ECU. I could not sleep at all last night because of how bummed I was. Fortunately, Matt (OVTune) replied overnight and advised he would forward me his shipping info. I am so thankful that there is a way forward now. If anyone can fix it, I am sure that person is Matt.

I also reached out to Double Phister last night and he gave me some great tips on removing the ECU. Will keep you guys updated on my progress. I hope to ship it off to Matt today if possible.

If he fixed the other guy’s, I’m sure he can help you out. Just stay positive and remember that it sucks but at least once you get it back the truck will be fine. A blown motor or tranny isn’t something you can just get back rolling with. Just let us know how it goes.

It will be great to see what rolls out with meso's new mod career.

@wataco18 helped me out with interior and licence plate LEDs as a thank you for his update. It is a big improvement. Those took the meso interior lights off my mod list unless I go red. Any upgrade there is worth it.

I'm pretty happy with the headlights. Blacking them out and / or upgrading to RX350 low beams would be nice, but not worth the effort esp when a hidden light bar would do way more when needed. I would like to revise the tails to get a full 'C' brake light and amber turns. Just waiting on someone to put a kit together.

I did get a fuse cover from meso through @Tacomavkk . Much appreciated there also! It is a big improvement over the crappy stock one.

The Gasshole is neat, but I moved the tether over one hole and it does what I need.

I am trying hard to be content with the mods for now and trying to save up for a GFC. :fingerscrossed:

I would have popped open a beer after pulling the ECU. It's almost noon in the UK!

Thanks for taking one for the team! I do appreciate your effort.

I'm sure that you are, but I would get online with the adapter vendor (obdii360.com?) and manufacturer. That should not have happened when they advertised tested compatibility which is something the $20 cables do not. A refund plus covering ECU shipping might be in line?

1 hour from start to finish. I took plenty of pictures for a detailed how-to. Going to pack it up and ship it to OVTune today.

I totally agree with you, but Toyota is truly who is at fault in the big scheme of things. If they would pull their head out of their asses we wouldn’t have to do this upgrade ourselves. Obviously they won’t ever be technically liable but really this is all their doing that has brought us to where we are today. It’s sad. Hope nartmot gets his truck up and rolling again quickly.

I agree, but we are still probably way ahead of the wave and all got really excited about this (for very good reasons). I feel pretty confident that there will be an MT TSB in the next couple months or TSB-0058-18 gets a Rev 2 that corrects the application errors.

I'm still glad that I did it, even with the risks involved. I've already saved the cable shipping costs that I had in it with the MPG bump, not to mention the general driving happiness.

Good point. I can and will contact them about this. Unfortunately, I dont really think there is any way we can say, with 100% certainty, that the hardware caused the issue since there are so many differernt varibles in play. If I were to do this again (I wont), I would use a Tactrix cable and a legit copy of Techstream in addition to all the other precautions I listed in my earlier post.

They should definitely allow you to return the adapter and give you a refund since is it useless for you now. Either for the fact it is DoA or incompatible. Covering shipping on your ECU would be a nice bonus given the situation.

If it were my company. . . Bees, vinegar, sugar, and all that. . .
