1: Dealer told me not to put snow chains on but where I'm going requires snow chains. Will this be okay?

2: The snow chains has a list of various sizes. The closest one being 275/60/17. I'm assuming since it's adjustable it accommodates various sizes. Will I be able to adjust it to fit the stock P265/65R/17 tires?

    TIA

The picture of the box, purchased for last vehicle but it hasn't even been used so I don't want to go out and buy another if possible.

My googlefu is weak today. Can't find the full fit list for that part #. But this is the current list that fits that size.

It's always a good idea to try them out. Make sure they actually fit. Do it on a nice clean driveway instead of on the side of a snow covered road.

You are right, my excuse not to is because it's too cold outside. I'm sure what I consider cold is pretty warm to some considering I live in SOCAL hahaa

Found it. It does not list a LT cable part # for that size.

According to the list Walmart has for Peerless, it won't work.
I'd suggest going to the Autotrac. If you aren't expecting to use them on a regular basis, they are good. Self adjusting and take up less space. Just give them a good wash when you get home.
Still check fitment of whatever you use before you actually need to put them on.

you're not supposed to put them on the front wheels only the back.
    Its in the owners manual.

Not sure on the sizing though.

Put chains on rear tires only. Cables suck.

My question is why is this a conversation if you have a 4x4 OP? It shouldn't be an issue even with passenger tires.

Those chains will fit. 265/70R16 is the same as 265/65R17.

He is going somewhere that requires chains, most likely somewhere in the Rockies?

Yup some roads require you to have chains whether you use them or not. CA has laws for this as well.

CA has roads that require chains as well. I don't get it, but such is the case.

You should only chain up when needed to chain up. Once through the area, pull over and remove. Also, monitor speed when using. No need to get there in a hurry. Chain only rear tires. Like anything, they can and will break after extended, multiple uses. When they break, when traveling at speed as you can imagine they can cause significant damage to the truck. Before each winter inspect the links for weak points. Questionable, repair or throw away and get new. Chains are cheap, body work is not.

Another suggestion is if you're in an area where chains are required often, maybe get a set of rear tires that are studded and rock those through the winter to avoid the hassle. Although some areas still only want chains.

I-5 in Northern California is the most noteable area that can and will require chains. Storms come out of nowhere and roads go to crap in a hurry. Most spots are unpassable without chains. And CHP can ticket you if you attempt it without chains, get stuck and interfere with traffic. It's unsafe for you and everyone on the road.

Big bear locally in Los Angeles requires Chains too at times. Often CHP will check standing in middle of road...

Cables are terrible. That's all I know.
Make absolutely sure your chains fit. I seen a guy once with adjustable chains wrapped around his axle. He was having a bad day.
