Which is weird because they're based in Europe.

Not sure, but you can see their factory from I25.
They are based in Europe, they make high quality chains.

If you have winter tires and a 4x4 they will let you pass. I was just there new years day when it was snowing. They do however ask for you to keep chains with you though.

If you read the page I linked, it shows how much longer their chains last vs the competition, and it's not bs. It also shows they are made in Colorado Springs.

I probably could get about 2500 miles out of a set, that's two weeks 12 hours a day on and off payment. Or a good month of taking them off and on 20+ times a day. These chains will not break without user error, and with correct use will get you through crap you wouldn't believe. Snow, ice or mud.

They didn't 'let you pass'. Chain up was not required on R2 with 4x4.
You still are required to carry chains. If it turns R3, even 4x4 will be required to chain up.

Headed up to Tahoe in a couple days. Usually do not need them with 4x4 or AWD but after the last storm that came through I have been debating grabbing a set to have with me. Never had to use them up there before.

Been reading through and probably won't be able to grab a set in time before I leave but any decent chain that won't mess up my wheels I can get a nearby auto shop? going to check on Peerless or SCC but then which would be the best model to look at.

check local inventory, many are sold out this time of year or don't stock the size you need...

Thanks! Dang dude, those are $121... Sucks to have to spend that when I doubt I will use them. I was plowing last weekend with no chains. Had to have some good momentum, but still...

yah I feel ya. I have never had to use them up there in a Truck or Audi Wagon I had before but with the storm we had last a couple weeks ago I do not want to take the chance. Plus as pointed out you have to have them with you. Looks like $100+ is what its going to take. I have 285's on my truck so my choices are smaller. Pep Boys and some other guys have some deals.

https://www.pepboys.com/search/?term=z-cable with 15% off. Doesn't fit 285 but if your running other size you may find a pair for $85
