So I went to the snow two days ago and while I was up there my truck proceeded to die randomly. I went to turn in back on and it wasn’t having it. Checked the fuse box under the hood and the EFI fuse had blown. Replaced the fuse and the truck started right up and worked fine for the next two to three hours before shutting off again. Replaced the fuse again and it started up and ran fine all the way home, the next day and even today. Truck has been throwing the p0141 code but has been doing that for a while before this happened. I’ve checked around for any wiring shorts but haven’t found any. The only thing I found was on the 1st O2 sensor was a small slice in a wire but after forcing it to short the truck never shut off or blew the fuse. Any suggestions on what it could be would be helpful.

Could possibly be something that only shorts out when it heats up.

Yeah but not in the motor in something electrical. There can be a coil winding in something that broke but only 1 strand of wire so when its cold it works till it heats up and then that wire moves, shorts out and then blows the fuse

A code P0141 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

    1. open or short to ground in the wiring harness
    2. O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance
    3. O2 heater element resistance is high
    4. Internal short or open in the heater element

sounds like there is a short somewhere else then. might have to use a "finer" tooth comb :D

I bet your short is in the O2 sensor harness.

They do tend to take a beating or get against the exhaust.

If there is any Salt on the truck as the snow and salt melt it might cause your short if the wires are rubbed so bare wire is exposed

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Might want to double check and find the problem.

    This is an old thread.

Just what truck are you working on? This is the first Generation section.
