Well my budget ass ordered a bunch of Ryobi stuff (yea i know, shoot me for being cheap) and am hoping it will help me out with modding the truck and anything else i need. Got one of those bundles with the drill/driver, a flash light, circular saw and sawzall. also came with 2 batteries. going to the home depot to pick up the angle grinder tomorrow, a faceshield, and a wire brush attachment. also gotta pick up some kind of rust inhibitor spray. i want to slowly but surely tackle as much rust as i can reach on the frame.before i go and dump 1200 beans on a fucking lift at some point, i want to make sure that the frame isnt totally fubar.

I work at a Home Depot and I can tell you that the Ryobi stuff is more than fine for the home gamer. Ryobi, Milwaukee, and Ridgid are all mfgd in the same plant by a company called TTI. Same company also makes Hoover vacuums and a bunch of other well known brands. The quality is pretty decent and being that I work the service desk and returns I can't say I see many Ryobi tools come back, mostly just the outdoor tools like weed trimmers and stuff like that because people run them hot and then leave them outside. I'm an aspiring mechanic so when I need a tool I decide what I'm going to use it for, I have the Ryobi ONE+ stuff for my home use (haven't broken anything) and I have some Makita, DeWalt, Snap-On, Mac for the auto stuff I plan to keep for a long time.

I'd say you made a good investment, but if you plan to use your grinder a lot I suggest corded. I use all my grinders like rented mules and run them way too hot when cleaning welds or cutting metal that is really thick. But I am sure if they were battery powered the oomph wouldn't have been there to get the job done for most tasks. If you're just cutting light stuff a cordless sawzall is a better choice both in safety and battery operatedness.

    Well that's my spiel lol

oh yea i got some experience with the ryobi stuff. i helped build a big ass gazebo/ hut thing for a hottub last summer. nothing but ryobi tools and them shits did EVERYTHING and then some with NO issues. i was mostly worried about the grinder to be honest. then remembered that bitch is 40 bucks. who gives a fuck if i blow it up grinding the absolute fuck out of my frame lol.

That's my go to grinder and it is pretty unstopable, my second in command is the Makita rattail.

picked up my grinder today. Big thanks to @ChandlerDOOM for getting my spare tire down without incident. I was sure just by the look of it that it was permafucked and stuck to the truck. I was expecting a different tool and he got it down in like 3 minutes. original spare tire. 20 years old. holy hell that thing is CRUSTY. its holding air.

random thought for today...im thinking of buying the dakar leaf pack separately before the front suspension lift. how bad of a rake would it give me? the leafs on my truck are definitely starting to wrap. a load of groceries from walmart today was sketchy as fuck in the bed today -______-

LOTS of rake! You will have all the rake if you don't pull out a few leafs. Our leafs are the CS019R not the CS047R that the 98-04 Tacos take. Our leafs are 3" shorter.

Gonna be putting Deet to work here in next week or so. Moving to Atlanta. Gonna be hard getting this toolbox into the truck myself. Fun times. Wondering how smart it is to air down the rear tires to get a lean going and lower the bed a bit. I literally know 2 people here and one ,bless his soul ,can't help as much as I'm sure he would like.

@Dalandser I havent had a chance to really get at the frame. Its been too cold. Ill deal with it when i have the money to upgrade. Im gonna save for the tires, then at some point order suspension and pull the bed. i want the frame blasted and painted before lift and eventual regear

Well, packing is in full sway. Unfortunately, my situation has changed and I'm forced to make a move much sooner than I had anticipated. Tool box is 90% empty. No way can I get it loaded up into the truck as is, and no way to unload when i unload in Atlanta. So what little savings i have is going into a 5x8 Uhaul trailer in next few days. i have NO idea what I'm doing when it comes to towing. I know the truck has a hitch and it came with this tri ball thingy that goes into the receiver. Yea im a noob. Sue me.

The truck bed will slam with minimal pressure and squeaks on way back up so it is pretty fucking sketchy to load heavy shit into it in the first place. I hope my truck has all the connections for the lights and shit to work. Sorry @G.T. Not sure I will be able to make it over this weekend to check the truck out. Im gonna have to go with a hope and a prayer and scrape the barrel. Im already borrowing gas money because of trailer FML lol

Sad to see you leave the area but what's best for you is the best solution in the end. Take your time and keep us posted on your trip here and if you need help along the way post in the TW Live thread as well.

Im 99% packed. have as much weight as i can on the far wall of the trailer. its sitting a bit funky for my tastes so i may get back in there and move shit around. Trailer is empty in this picture. Im heading back to Atlanta (Marietta/Smyrna area).

I will miss @G.T. and fam. We only hung out a few times but you guys are damn good folks and I appreciate all you have done.
