In the process I found just how bad my rack really is....bushings are shot. Its pouring out of every seal. Pumps been whiny for awhile. It soundlike a bomb went off the other day and had a nice size puddle under the truck. Im ordering a new one tonight. Im not ruining a $1000 set of tires. -_- Fuck my life and credit card in the ASS.

I have a spare pump if you want to pay to ship it from the west coast...

    Check this out too:

It shows how to clean out the pump filter - that seems to make a difference in how well the pump runs!

Check out lowrangeoffroad.com for a rebuilt as well. You can get a brand new oem rack for $550 from gunny1005 if you want peace of mind that you won't be leaking anytime soon.

Its been a hellaciously hard couple of days. I'm broke and frustrated and honestly, at the point I want to set fire to this fucking thing and never looking back.

I spent just over $530 to get the rack, tie rods and bushings. I installed them at work and that's where the trouble started. This ancient rusty pile of dragon shit gave me one fuck you after another. The mongoloid previous owner has NEVER maintained this thing. The fact it ran when I got it is a testament to Toyota engineering. I had had to literally cut part of the steering rack out and the outer tie rods because of how rusted they were. I scraped off enough sludge to fill a 5 gallon bucket a 1/4 of the way. I think the oil leak is coming from the oil filter housing. Valve cover and Rear main seal have already been done.

The rag joint between the steering column and rack have been rusted together so long no amount of PB, Heat and brute force would get it to budge. I tried to align and it was just all about NO. The truck looked broken. 8 degrees off toe. No threads on one side, other side had a mile of adjustment left. Wheels were cambered in and off to the side. Reminded me of Kingler from pokemon.
    099Kingler_AG_anime_zps3sdrsw1n_c527a044ca383598467c84150973df39938b14e1.png

I had entirely too much to do at work, on customer vehicles I had no time to even attempt to fuck with it anymore. I bit the bullet and called USAA. They towed the shittrain to the dealer. Bent over for damn near 400 beans. They did some magic fuckery to mostly unfuck it and it is now able to be driven again. You can see from these 2 pics just how bad the alignment was out. Note the steering wheel is STRAIGHT and had an equal amount of turns left and right when I reconnected the rack and column.

On top of that the rear leaves are completely broken through on at least 2. The other has a crack. I'm a pothole away from death. When does the fun start again? Fuck this truck.

I have two intact but flat/bent leaf packs coming off my truck this weekend. They aren't good but they also aren't cracked (been there on my last truck, whole reason I even lifted). They're yours for shipping if you want them.

Just need to blast some Amy Winehouse to solve the rusted hardware issue haha. Hope he can get it all sorted out. The early first gens are worth saving!

I ordered so much beefy truck crap this week I don't think I'll have any money left for edible beef after I buy a welder and a bottle of Co2. Basically a whole new rear end after this week including relocated 10" resi shocks. Having all the shocks rebuilt on the 21st too. Gotta be ready for death valley part 2 haha

I had to replace the o-rings on my oil filter housing. It's a pretty simple job that you can do during your next oil change. There are two o-rings.

where did you find the orings. I'm looking through the OME thread now to see what my options are. I haven't encountered anyone with my exact setup.

Ext cab with a 4 cylinder. Was thinking of the Dakar and 882 springs since I plan on bumper eventually. If I do it now is it going to be raked all stupid.

I believe these are the part numbers:
    15692-75011
    96721-24018

I always use toyodiy.com to look up the part numbers with my VIN. If I'm confused I'll ask @gunny1005 or email conicelli toyota to verify.

No kidding. I’ve been searching for over 6 months and still can’t make up my mind on what to get for an extended cab 4 cylinder.

Take into consideration the weight difference between your engine and the V6. I got sold some coilovers with a kit that has been spec'd out for a V6 truck on my regular cab and the springs weren't correct for my truck.
