I dont care about the check engine light being on, but i know the egr valve is bad and id rather not spend $140ish on a new one. I know on some vehicles you can just remove the egr all together.... can i do it on this engine?

If so, what do i do to plug all the vacuum lines on the egr valve?

And obviously i know i would need a egr block off plate, i was just gonna buy the accel universal one....

There's also coolant lines going to the egr. All the vacuum lines do is open the egr when a certain vacuum is applied so you can probably cap those.

It is a pile of shit, however its not mine, my dad bought it brand new, started running rough as shit like 2 years ago and its been sitting ever since. Figured id try and get it back on the road, and i do not want to spend a lot of money doing so. As for my truck i drive a 01 6 speed cummins, which is where all the money goes too ;)

Anywho, is the egr something i can for sure delete on this engine?

Not positive but probably. You could try soaking the egr in seafoam if it's dirty, might help. The egr on my old 2.4l was bad and the truck ran fine except for a cel. Betting it's not the direct issue. Probably something throttle body related.

I have a new mass airflow on the way hopefully that will help...

Basically once you start it, it will die right out unless you hold the gas pedal down a little bit, and you have to do this for about 2-3 minutes before it will actually idle, it just runs all around rough and is severely underpowered, but still driveable as is....

Pretty sure when I scanned the codes at work it was maf and egr....
