I'm trying to get the sensor removed and looks like it should be pretty easy if I take off a tube.
Trying to upload a pic but at work and not letting me for some reason. The tube runs right on top of the sensor. Easy on/off for this tube? Or any tips on getting the sensor off? Finally letting me post a pic...it's that bigger, thicker tube
    Thanks!!

the way i removed was by undo the connector leads, then use a long socket for the sensor, but make sure you mark the wires first.

Mark the wires? The two wires connected to the plug? The plug only fits one way? I thought about a long socket and getting it off would be ok if I cut the plug off the old sensor but how to get it around the new sensor plug? Unless I'm way off base...You must mean after I take the tube off:rolleyes:

You'll need an O2 sensor socket (with a slot), or a brake-line wrench (what I used on my 3RZ).

I cut a slot in a deep 14mm socket to get it off without removing the EGR valve. There is not really enough room to turn a wrench in that space. Certain brake line wrenches may have enough angle to them to remove it.

That's what I'm running into. What did you use to cut the socket?

Here is a photo of the 14mm brake-line wrench attached to the sensor.
Not much room to turn it, but just enough to break it free. Then I just used my
hand to back it out the rest of the way.

I don't know how you did that but I can't get that wrench to fit and it's driving me nuts! How tight does it have to go back in? If I cut the wires off the plug I can use a regular long socket to get it out

From what I see there are 2 bolts holding the valve on, if I could loosed those and just move it half inch it would be great. Am I correct with the 2 bolts? Did some more searching and see that there is a gasket to replace.

Yes, 2 bolts hold the EGR valve to the intake manifold. Soak them with liquid wrench before you try. The valve might not move much, if it is still attached to the EGR pipe that leads to the exhaust manifold. The gasket may be re-usable if it is not damaged during the removal process, but typically its best to replace it.

I used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. I just had an extra 14mm socket laying around so I said why not.

Were you trying to use a 14mm brake-line wrench. Is it 'off-set' like the one I used ?

Yes, it was brake line wrench with the offset but it would not fit between the bolt and the egr valve. I cut a slot in a 14mm socket and it fit but don't trust it to take it off without stripping even if I were to cut the plug off and go at it straight on.20170722_125811[1].jpg I'm just gonna bring it and have the sensor put on

Have you tried a crows foot wrench, or bending a cheap box wrench in a vice to get a good angle on it? I did this on my 3rz when I installed the resistor for the EGR temp sensor.

The 14mm I put a slot in will fit but scared I will round out the bolt if not using brake line wrench. Everyone says it's easy to do that

I could feel the socket I cut flexing but it removed the sensor fine.

so what i did was to unplug the connector and with a sharp point remove the leads from the connector (i did marked one lead) once the two leads are off i used a long 14mm fed the leads thru the socket and with a vise-grip hold the socket and turn it 1/4 of turn at at time. the sensor is not to hard to loosen.

I work at a Chevy dealership and they were able to swap it out for me for the big price of a six pack! That's what they did was take the plug off, like what Sllckster was saying. They couldn't find a tool that fit either. Thanks again for all the help!
