Do you have the same coilovers?

I just checked again, and I'm barely hitting 25 at full droop.

You appear to have an extra 1/2 inch of down travel, which means that these coilovers may be "short" 1/4 inch.

I wonder if the issue with these coilovers is just that they are too short or something.

@Speedfreak do you think you have time to jack your front end up and measure fender-center hub, and see how much downtravel you have?

    Yes.

Now I'm curious how much droop mine has since you guys are seeing different amounts.

Took me about 40seconds to check.

Measure, jack up entire front end, measure.

Done! Let me know, I'm very curious

Everything that I have heard leads me to believe that it is normal for shocks to limit the down travel of the Toyota IFS, with the caveat that some long travel shocks are not designed for that. I’ve never heard of any manufacturer of OEM replacement shocks recommending limit straps.

At the same time, I don’t think OEM replacement shocks are designed for catching air on a regular basis. What are you doing that is causing the tire to leave the ground?

Is it the clunk sound that is giving you concern? Or is there something else to it?

    2mph speed bump?

Reason to fix is, it's never happened before, is loud, feels very harsh/can feel a sledgehammer type feeling on the vehicle, and is a PITA when driving off-road and hitting the slightest imperfections lol.

I have a really hard time believing your tire is leaving the ground going over a speed bump at 2mph.

What rate are your coil springs?

I don't blame you for thinking that either!

That said, these speed bumps are STEEP. About 5-6 inches tall and maybe 8inches long. It's not hard for the suspension to "bounce" off the face and drop past the other side.

Shallow bumps I can hit at speed no issues.

I'll see if I can edit/upload the footage I have from my cell.

Current theory still is that I can add a spacer, and lower the adjustment, therefore moving where the coilovers "center" is on the height scale. If these coilovers are "short" then it just compounds the issue and makes it worse lol

    Edit: Coils should be 600lb

d00d, you can’t catch air at 2mph unless maybe you see driving off a cliff. Surely you are exaggerating the speed or we are taking past each other.

Uploading to YT, I had to edit all the "hits."

The wheels definitely don't leave the ground, but the shock definitely goes all the way down, then the cradle flexes outward. No clue!

I should be 4k 120fps, so should be able to go into slowmo and really see.

It's still uploading, so this may be potato quality for about 10-15min until YT does it's thing.

If there are better angles or something that I should take from the engine compartment I'm totally game!

I had a lesser clicking going over nasty speed bumps with the stock skidplates on, be it physical interference, torsional pull, or vibration amplification. The 2 parts are basically sheet metal down there. Once gone, so did some noise.
    I'd remove them and retest.20240322_035808.jpg

    I have removed both skids
    Retorqued UCA/LCA
    Removed sway
Swapped to full shoulder shock bolt
    Replaced brake pads

Spacers are pretty cheap, so I'm looking for a 1/4 to 1/2 thick spacer ~for science~

I am currently unavailable for this but can give it a try next week. Most likely Thursday. I will post my numbers.

Just so people understand what @Sand_In_My_Taco is stating is not an issue solely affecting him. I have the same Eibach set-up unaltered from the box and have been experiencing the same clunk under minor drop outs since install. Communication with Eibach was at first promising but quickly evaporated. I have done the same list of fixes with no difference.

My OME nitro chargers are not long travel. I’ve only got 2 1/4” of downtravel. Wish the guy at the shop mentioned that. If I got 5100s, my downtravel would have been ~3”.

Can you quickly jack the front of your truck off the ground and measure fender-center hub?

    Or anyone really xD

It would be quite funny if the issue with these coilovers is the travel length.

I ordered 1/2 thick spacers. Tomorrow I'll do some ~science~ and swap them out when they are delivered.

1 turn is 1/8th inch "lift," so with a 1/2 inch block (.054 motion ratio) I would gain an additional 1" lift, meaning I would need to lower the adjustment on the coilovers by 8 full turns on both sides.

That's the plan at least xD

If I recall per one of “tinkerers adventure” video, he mentioned that half inch top hat spacer will net in about 3/4” of additional down travel.

I haven’t bothered yet cuz I don’t mind how my truck rides. I’ve had no issues off-road.

But I’m really enjoying my 6” of uptravel! Haha.
