It's up in Alamo, right outside of town.

Oct 27-28th, a Sat or Sun Kirk and I will explore a historical route the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.
This route ran from Mexico City to what is now Taos NM it is the oldest road in North America used from from 1598 to 1882
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Camino_Real_de_Tierra_Adentro
A friend from Canada (Kirks), now living in AZ has wanted to explore this part of the route for years and I'm going to pre run the southern section from El Paso where the Rio Grande was crossed as far north as Socorro NM.
I need to mark way points at certain areas and where NM has placed information signs relating to the route for the trip in the coming spring.
I'll start at the exit off of I-25 where the space port is being built following the route to the east of Elephant Butte towards El Camino Real International Heritage which is south of Soccoro.
We can eat at the Owl Cafe or Buckhorn for burgers in San Antonio NM

From there jump across I-25 into the mtns were there is a really awesome canyon similar to Monticello Canyon, deep sand, 40-80 ft deep canyons that snake along the dry river bed this will take us across the Plains of St.Augustine to NM60 by Magdallina if we have time we can head towards the VLA and the back road into Monticello canyon and back to I-25 by TorC and head home.

If we go before Nov we can beat the time change and still have some light longer in the day.
To make it so it's not so rushed we could make it a 2 day trip and camp in the woods before Monticello Canyon.
Mostly just dirt roads nothing extreme but might be interesting.

    Anyone interested?

I would contact Kai38, as he is planning this and I believe he's been in that area before.

I believe the plan is to travel on back roads, so a Pre Runner may be OK.

There is a portion of the planned route that is real deep sand, tight turns so I don't think you could get a run at it, but that's what straps are for.
You are welcome to come we've never left anyone behind when they are stuck. Email me at kai38@elp.rr.com I'll send you the details.

    Keoni,

Here's the 1st processed pic of the 305 I shot in the last two days.

It's going to take a week or two to go through them.

We were camped at around 9500 feet.

So if you weren't prepped for it, sleeping sucked, as it dropped to 22 degrees.

Other than that, we had a great time and there'll be more opportunities.
