Re-do my Lower shock mounts
Replace speedometer sensor (so I actually have a speedo again)
Replace motor mounts with solid (poly) mounts.
And fabricate new steering with Total Chaos Lower ball joints and replacing the inner and outer tie rods with Clevis and Heims.

 

Made it this far (on both sides) on the new LBJs this evening after work.

 

For the record... Motor mounts are a pain in the ass.

Replaced with Ruff Stuff Specialties motor mounts. Was intended to be preventative maint, but found out my driver mount was broken anyway, so glad I did it.

 

The new bolts to attach the clevis to the steering rack ends arrived today. I set the angle I'm looking at having the rack slider at, then I welded locator tabs to make the clevis not be able to turn on the rack end, and possibly start working loose.



I drilled in the the back of the clevis so the root of the weld is about 3/16 below the surface, and rises up about 3/16 as well.

The I was able to start assembling things... Tomorrow I'll probably work on getting the wheels straight (toed) and then cut the links for the steering.

 

Rack slider will be similar to this.

 

Is there a bushing material inside the slider or is it tight tolerance metal on metal?

 

It'll be bronze bushings. The fit will be just a schosh less than tight.

 

I just noticed it uses the old sway bar mounts too... that's a great idea and makes me regret cutting mine off.

Fix windshield washer fluid res or pump
Replace fuse for Passenger side compressor
Finish shore power (charger mounts)
Install proportioning valve to delete LSPV
Install new Superbumps (rear)
Install 3/4 spacers (front)
Replace door handles
Fix running lights in grill and trans cooler fan (same circuit)

 

New wheels for the daily...

Remove broken skid bolts, chase threads DONE

Fix windshield washer fluid res or pump
Replace fuse for Passenger side compressor
Install proportioning valve to delete LSPV
Install new Superbumps (rear)
Replace 1.25 spacers with 3/4 spacers (front)
Replace door handles
Re-install skids.
Remove everything from cab and boxes, clean and repack for new season.
Re-do shifter for front transfer case.

I'm sure, while working on this, I'll add more to the list.

Added = Clean up garage so you stop tripping on shit and almost dying... DONE ✔️
