Anyone up for an overnight trip to Niagara Rim Trail? (8/5-8/6)

The rest of 5N01 is open (back to Bennett Juniper and Relief Reservoir)

Need a shake down trip before Rubicon (8/18 - 8/20)

How did you bolt your rear skid cross member? I see one on the bottom is that a through bolt?

No, I ran the self tapping bolts that came with my All Pro sliders (for if you want them bolted instead of welded).

I was in the area too. I arrived on Thursday and the second gate on 5N01 was still locked so we camped over here.

I led a group through Niagara Rim on Saturday. A few were new to technical wheeling and got to pay it forward from when Matt spotted me through my first time!

New warfab rear bumper worked great, never even got close to it.

    Never ends does it?

Decided I wanted to change up the ride height in back, and get a little better position on the shocks. With the 1 inch body lift, it gave me more room to move the rear shocks up. So I raised them about 2 inches. (stuffing them up as close to the bed as I could get.

    20230730_172219.jpg

With that, the bumps needed to go up. Upon inspecting the bump shafts, I had about 3/4 more bump travel, so I moved those up about 2.5 inch.

Had to cut in to the bed to get them to fit.

    20230730_181917.jpg

With that, I lowered the rear back down an inch.

With the additional up travel, I trimmed som stuff off the rear corner of the wheel well.

While working on the shocks, I discovered the passenger rear shock was blown. Nitrogen is leaking past the reservior o-ring.

So... hopefully Accutune can overnight the rebuild kit. Oil should be here Tuesday (from Amazon).

In other news... I picked up another hobby...
    Gunna revive this little beast.

    20230727_175714.jpg 20230727_175705.jpg

    MS261C

Puts out right at 4 hp. Which is a full hp more than my MS250 at the same weight. Overall it's in used but good condition. Runs really good, no indications of any problems.

There were a couple missing screws, that are already on order, and it came without a bar and chain. Which is fine, I'd rather just get them new anyway (also on order).

    Screenshot_20230727_201207_eBay.jpg

Also ordered a skid plate to protect the bottom of the tank.

    Bar and chain

    Screenshot_20230727_202128_Chrome.jpg

    Screenshot_20230727_202457_Chrome.jpg

Also ordered a saw kit from WestCoast Saw... should make it run a little harder and louder.

    Screenshot_20230727_201114_Chrome.jpg

The plan is to see how she runs, then pull the cylider/piston and port it for more power/torque... and by opening up the exhast it will help it run cooler.

Still debating a new clutch cover...

    It sure looks bad ass.

And it does serve a purpose... It ejects the wood chips a lot better... and, it looks badder asser.

Do you need a nitro refill? I have a setup but don’t think I am coming down anytime in next couple weeks.

And what shocks are you running? I have king and icon 2.5 rebuild kits and I think I have a gallon each of king and icon juice

I've got Nitro. My shocks are Fox 2.0 Factory Race with 7/8 shaft.

Accutunes page say they have the kit I need in stock. I just need to call them when they open and hopefully they can ship it today.

Making some progress on the used (minor rehab) 261C.

Replaced the missing top cover screw, and brake pivot screw. (they worked perfect, the holes weren't damaged)

Installed the muffler port, and air cleaner (foam oil is on order). Installed the inner felling dog and put the chain roller on the outer dog. (waiting to install the outer felling dog till the West Coast Saw clutch cover gets here)

And installed the aluminum bottom skid.

Also replaced the spark plug. Old one was in decent shape, but could use a replacement.

While the plug was out, and while the muffler was off, I inspected what I could inside. Definately no sign of anything terrible going on in there.

So... still waiting on the clutch cover, bar and chain. And I also ordered the two bottom muffler bolts. I noticed they were missing when I removed the muffler. I used a bolt from another location on the saw and verified those threads are good.

Kind of disappointed in Stihl. Ordered the bar and chain a week ago now... still no update... and I'm an impatient bastard when I'm waiting for parts
