Have you looked at any aftermarket bars? Also we have had good luck with Westurf in Modesto

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I looked in to a few of them, but the Japanese ones are really flexy.

The Cannon is badass looking, but not as light as the Stihl Light 04, and it's almost 3x as much.

I ordered the Light 04 and a standard chain for now. I want to see how it runs, and what the power/kick is before I go with a more aggressive chain. When I go to a more aggressive chain, I think I may go to an Oregon or Cannon Light bar.

Totally forgot Westurf is a Stihl dealer. I'm dealing with Hughson Farm Supply right now. They're good people. And I made the order through Stihl to deliver to their store. So, they are pretty much as in the dark on the lead time as I am.

The cool thing about ordering the Stihl Light 04 bar and standard chain to start with on the MS261C is if/when I go to a more aggressive bar and chain, on the 261, the Stihl Light 04 bar and standard chain will be an upgrade I can make by moving it over to my MS250.

Ended up not being able to get the 04 Light Bar. Ends up I'll have to convert to 3/8 to get the 04 Light bar for this saw.

Ended up getting a more aggressive (Rapid Super) chain.

We'll see how it goes, for now. I'm sure I'll look in to other bar/chain combos.

But she's together. And she runs like a raped ape!

Oh heck yea, @Kwikvette is right, I do like this! That's a commercial saw, with that bubbly cover I know it's a 1 series.... if you're talking about converting it to 3/8, I assume it's .325 currently.... So imma guess it's a 261 since it has the compression release?

If I zoom in I kinda see the bar p/n ending in 17 and since it's a rollomatic I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's the 3005 008 4717.

Are you a carver and/or cut professionally? I'm reeeeeeaaaalllly digging those dog upgrades and that's a sweet chain cover

So if you ever have an questions, I used to be a parts and service manager at a small engine shop that had a stihl dealership. If you're used to a 250 the 261 is damn banshee in comparison, stock. The wonderful thing about it in construction vs the 250 is the engine itself. The 261 has a true crankcase with an actual head gasket vs the clamshell with FIPG sealant. I'm not sure if they're out there but it's bigger brother the 391 have aftermarket big bore kits available so maybe they are for the 261 as well.

Couple of things to mention, those quarter turn fuel caps had a warranty issue, if you call your local dealership with the s/n they can tell you if it's been swapped. (If I still worked there I'd do it for you) also, depending on year, there were some funky software issues with the intellicarb but I believe there was a service bulletin put out on that

    Well that sucks.

    20230803_222828.jpg

Rebuilding my shock. It was leaking past the O ring at the end plate of the resi... and the schrader valve.

The f'n core was so tight in the valve I tried to drill it out and easy out the core... the sides of the core are still in there. Put so much force on the easy out it twisted the valve instead of breaking what's left of the core lose.

Maybe try a hardware store. It’s probably a common size but I dunno.

Lowe’s shows this: (but not in stock apparently)

I called Fox. They told me the thread pitch on the side that threads in to the plate is 5/16 - 32

It looks like a Rock Shock schrader is the same. I'm going to call World of Wheels when they open (ugh... those guys are such assholes. I worked there for 3 years for my first job)

    So... to update.

    We made the trip to NRT. Had a great time with @essjay @Speedo @Impoy47 @10YSON @TacoEspecial @silvertep

Truck ran great for the most part. Brakes still needed adjust, 2 of the tires needed replace, and the Jshift popped out of gear a couple times. And A/C is not working.

Replaced the drums today, and re-adjusted the bias with the manual proportioning valve. = Brakes are better than they have been in a LONG TIME.

Picked up a set of 5 tires that match what I'm running. Will get 2 swapped out on Monday.

    20230811_081424.jpg

Bought the Marlin spring for the Jshift case shifter. @betterbuckleup if you have a pic or description that will short cut my search for where it goes, it would be awesome. Glanced up in there quickly, didn't see it (but we have a bday party we're getting ready to go to).

    20230809_175947.jpg

Truck is scheduled to be in the shop on Monday to have the A/C looked at.

Right on... I saw that hex socket, but it didn't look like it was in the right place.

Thank you... I'll probably try and get to that this evening, when I get the truck out of the shop... hopefully the A/C will be fixed today.
