    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I moved the shackle hanger forward about an inch to get from 52 to 37. I think the shackle is too shallow.

    20231027_184422.jpg

I think, tomorrow, I'm going to move it towards the back 1/4 inch and burn it in permanent at what ever ° that puts it at.

I'm trying to stay close to the lift I was at. I think this will get me there.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I just went out to the garage and checked mine, so my "unloaded state" which is tent, bedslide, spare tire, hi lift, and right now a new pair of 63s is about 400lbs over stock and my shackle angle is exactly 45*.

That probably puts me close to what you're at. Mine is equivalent to LOADED right now. RTT, rtt rack, boxes, tools, spare parts, 10 gallons of gas 6 gallons of water... and then some.

Plus much more of the load is out at the tailgate than would be usually.

I think I'm going leave it here. I checked back to my notes and loaded, I was 14.5 from center of axle to bottom of frame. That's where I'm at now.

If I end up needing more lift, I could go to 7 inch shackles, which at this angle would give me between 3/8 and 1/2 lift. It would increase my shackle angle as well... but it would give me nearly a full inch more droop.

I haven't even gotten to the point where I know where this droop is going to be... ran out of daylight.

I'd like to get more droop than this.

    20230910_130737 (1).jpg

I wasn't even lifting that tire yet. (Alcans)

I'd like to get top of tire 2~3 inches below the slider. I'll actually kind of be disappointed in the 63s if it can't get there.

I was thinking with your bump stop limited uptravel it doesn’t hurt to allow for a little more droop on the other side. When rock crawling at least.

I think with all the unsprung weight now you’ll be stoked on how stable things feel. Time for heavy steel bead locks!

A dude in Hickman has some (Heavy) Racelines off an Ultra 4. I keep thinking about hitting him up.

    37s are heavier too :gossip:

Settled on a shackle angle. And while I had ride height, I built the traction bar.

What did you do to get the driveline to match up with the flange on the FJ80 axle? Did you just replace the flange on the diff to an 8.0 flange?

I hadn't even crossed that bridge. It looked close, so I hadn't even checked it till now lol.

Triple drilled flange will be easiest, at least for me it is.

How’d you set your bump stops up on your previous setup?

Im assuming they never bottomed out. What was your limitation on compression? Do you know how negative your leads would go when fully compressed?

Never measured how negative the old set up went. But it was about this much.

Make sure that they aren’t trophy truck lug pattern 6x6.5. there are a bunch of them on marketplace that say will fit a yota but are actually trophy truck. They can be redrilled but the few I have had done never balance enough for a street driven truck only trailer queens.

Do you want to sell me your old elocker diff? I can use it in the front of my Zuk

Still not even sure I'm going to contact him. I have too much other shit to buy before I head off to the next Shiney object.

I need to try not to be ADHD on these projects, it's too expensive that way lol.

I need to sell the whole axle. Otherwise it'll be way harder to get rid of the housing for anything.

Most of the ultra 4 stuff I have come across is is 6x5.5 but 5/8 hole and flat seat lug nuts. Just watch for brake clearance issues and if the mounting face may need longer studs if it is thick.

You can get the holes countersunk at 60 degrees and use ET conical lug nuts to work on our stuff. At least I didn’t die in a couple thousand miles.

Got the truck unloaded and the leaf packs disassembled down to just the main spring, for cycling them easier.

Bumpstop pads built (need to finish welding them when I take the leafs all the way off)

    Built the bump stop brackets.

And I did get the old rear axle pressure washed before I shut it down for the night.

    20231029_195321.jpg

Decided I'm going the bolt the bumps to the frame, for now. Need to grab a tap and some bolts tomorrow. But the holes are drilled.

    Moving forward.

Traction bar is in (still need to tighten)
Bump pads are in (need to finish welding about 1/2 on the side facing the leaf springs)
Tapped the frame and mounted the bump cans.

It's going to be that time to really reconsider a v8 swap. The 5vz struggle as is with minimum weight. IDK how you manage going up 4lane and not curse. Haha

Supercharger maybe. I'm not swapping the motor in this truck.

Sometimes I curse... but most of the time, I'm just not in that much of a hurry.

I go fast in the car... the truck is a different mindset.
