Are you going to be running removable drive flanges or are you looking for shafts with the flange integral?

Ah okay... well cutting an o-ring, circlip, e-clip groove is an easy job for a machine shop, not so sure about your seal surface issue but if it involves making a surface larger or smaller or smoother I'm sure a machine shop can do that too. Might save you time vs finding a manufacturer that already does that stuff made to order for weird toyota axles.

On spline legths... It shouldn't matter how long the splines are as long as they are "long enough" correct?

Meaning, say, I only HAVE TO HAVE 1.25 splines on the inners splines... it wouldn't matter if they were 1.5, correct?

Yeah it's fine to have extra, most axle shafts don't engage 100% of the available splined length. But try to minimize it, don't go ordering 4" of spline for 1.5" of engaged area cause that's the space for twist to occur. An extra 1/4" is nothing tho, if that's all that's left over that's about what you'd order custom anyway to guarantee fitment.

IIRC RCV made long fields axles prior to being sold to fail gear. Sucks you have to wait, but like others said that's what sucks about building stuff right before KOH!!

I say that as I get ready to tear my entire front end down this week for some winter wrenching LOL

For fucks sake... Longfield "Custom" Full Float axle shafts can't even have the spline length adjusted on the birf side. All they can adjust is length of spline on the diff side.

Birf side can only be 1 inch.

So... In other words they have 30 spline blanks they can cut for you... that's it.

I've been emailing RCV since October, and Diamond since mid-November.

Then maybe they all should not claim a 2 to 4 week lead time on their f'n axles.

What do you mean by spotting seal surface? Like where the axle seal rides?
My shafts dont have that any machined surface for that, plus the diamond housings already come with a diff side internal axle seal. Does the RS housings?

Did you buy these from FROR for the spindles?

I dont know about the other FF guys but my shafts dont have a designated sealing surface. Just splines on each end and thats it. The rest of the shafts is already a machined surface and shafts do not taper in any area. SO you could have that seal placed as close or as far from the diff as you want.

    So... progress report.

Still no answer from Front Range / Diamond

Called RCV. Asked them if they could check to see if they recieved the dimensions I sent them almost a month ago. He said yes, that someone else was working on it :notsure: and they would be in touch today.... aaaand... crickets. (Also asked them their lead times... 8 weeks... they're out)

Dutchman axles contacted me today, for more info. I sent them the rest of what they were asking for. We'll see if they contact me tomorrow. (Their lead time is 2 weeks).

Funny thing is... if the dumb fuckers at RCV would have answered the email I sent them almost a month ago... even with their 8 week lead time... it wouldn't have been a problem.

The entire... Well it's just before KOH thing is dumb.

Hell, Diamond even quoted me they are starting a new batch now and could have them done by New Years. Then fell off the radar when I responded that I was definately interested in being in this batch and asked them how they would like me to GIVE THEM MY MONEY.

This isn't about KOH. It's about shit communication. Which FROR is actually notorious for.

Not surprising on FROR honestly. They are one of the sacred cows of the Toyota parts world, but every part I have purchased from them has been a piece of shit, like basic stuff has been garbage.

Ahh well part of the hobby I guess.

When deciding on what way to go with my rear axle, I had spoken with someone at Dutchman and they were very reachable and knowledgeable over the phone. Can’t say it applies to your situation unfortunately - was a 9” axle and I went with Currie and Solid Axle Industries.

If Dutchman can do these axles and have them done in 2 weeks, I'll be their biggest fan lol.

Dude was hella cool on the phone today. We'll see what happens tomorrow. The last of the dimensions he needed were surrounding the C clips.

I ended up just stopping by Yota1 on my way home from work and grabbing a couple. I'll need them anyway, and also I was able to just get actual measurements off of them.

Dutchman doesn't seem like they deal with Toyota as much as a FROR... They had specs for all kinds of other clips (Warn, Strange, etc) but they didn't have specs for Toyota 30 spline birfield clips.

I reiterated that these axles are TOYOTA 30 spline, not Dana. I'm hoping he doesn't contact me back saying he can't do Toyota... THAT would be my luck.
