2.7l tacoma, Came across on tacoma world thread on removing inner fender elbow? Notice in pic! Opening in airbox about 4" wide and then it restricts to about 2" wouldnt that limit or restrict amount of air coming in? intake~2.jpg
    Is it better to remove????

How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go with learning about how fluid moves through tubes?

Leave it in. It has a purpose.

Your ECU controls the amount of air entering the engine. The stock airbox gives the engine plenty of air. Opening it up will do nothing because even if you give it more air, the ECU will just adjust the mix accordingly. Also, it adds velocity to the air coming in. Leave it.

    Exactly!
Often what some view as a restriction is what an educated engineer specifically designed as a way to increase velocity. These flow rates and velocities are also factored when engineers design the engine mapping or tune.
In one instance, higher velocity air can actually increase low engine RPM torque, by creating a rush of air/fuel mixture as soon as the throttle body opens. I’m out of my element, but you get the idea.

I pulled mine out seemed like more of a silencer/resonator than it was for air flow yank it out the 2.7 can use all the help it can get

Also, it is said that carefully removing the charcoal screen on the top of the airbox lid yields some benefits for the 2.7l.

Which reinforces my thoughts as to why it’s there.
Not being nasty- you asked, you got feedback, do what you want, hell maybe it does what you want it to do.

I would leave it. Seems with every car/truck out there in the last 30 years there is always an air intake tweak that doesn’t work or gives minuscule gains that aren’t worth the time. If you want a proven 15-17 hp gain get a LCE header.

You gas filler neck is much larger diameter than your fuel line. Does this mean you need to hack the fuel line off and replace with larger diameter fuel line?

Wait. Gas is a fluid and air is a...fluid.

The bottle neck is the throttle body, thats the smallest point, opening anything upstream of it won't have any effect as they all flow more air than the throttle can handle.

A shart is a semisolid suspension within a carrier fluid and a pressurized gas overburden.

In science terms, we call that a non-newtonian slurry.
