I wish there was a BAS hybrid kit. Would go great in an overlanding vehicle as that could be a part of your off grid power system since the BAS generator/motors are typically much higher amp systems with a perfectly sized battery for fridge and weekend. Then you also have some low down torque to add in. The Chevy e-Assist system added 13 hp/44 tq with a .45kWh battery pack. Battery pack fit under the center console and the alternator was replaced with a unit that worked well as a motor in addition to just a generator.

Great idea and very creative. Looks to be in the proof of concept stage and not production ready but the company has one already for a Ferrari conversion.

You can hook up electric motors straight up to the driveline, or to the transmission with an adapter plate. Either works, but there are some trade-offs with each of course.

I think the Tesla S in ludicrous mode might be a fine blond one faster, but Porsche is all about performance and durability. The 50th anniversary 911 was run 50 back to back 0-60 launch controls with consistent results. Nissan GTR? I think you used up your warranty around #10. I don’t think the Tesla battery system is quite as robust as the Porsche system either.

Agreed, some pretty good statistical and financial arguments in there. Yip and Yap do gloss over the motivations and passions of the average Porsche buyer though. Consider the Panamera Turbo. Once spec’d nicely it’s pushing towards $185k.

And while the Tesla beats the Taycan on paper for performance stats, I’m going to guess that the Taycan will outperform it on any road track. People buy Porsche because they are passionate about the brand. People buy Tesla because it’s a great luxury and tech value that happens to go wicked fast per $.

I agree, it’s not going to take a huge chunk out of Tesla’s stable right now. But wait until VW and Audi put out their follow-on vehicles with huge R&D already spent...

Porsche will never be a big player in the bulk sales, their profit per vehicle is just too darn high to support that.

The least expensive Taycan will run you around $104,000 before options, taxes, etc. Tesla will offer a higher performance Model S next year with flared fenders, 3 electric motors, etc. Elon loves competition and he hired smart engineers to make his visions a reality.

At least Tesla’s founders are not Nazis. And they produce awesome cars. You should listen to Elon, his goal is to have Tesla go out of business cause competotors build a better electric car.

    Another myth

Tesla was founded in July 2003, by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning
