Well this forum is full of stories of people making toyota do shit they either aren't aware of or don't want to (TSBs, transmission oil level, etc) all the time. I've personally made toyota do multiple things they initially refused.

So not only are you wrong, but you're way too sensitive since I was just joking about the irony of telling someone on a forum to not listen to the forum. Cheers.

^^^^He’s right^^^^I found hail damage just over a week after purchasing my brand new Tacoma. Made them give me a new truck. It wasn’t easy and didn’t happen in a day, but they ended up ordering me a new truck. This was before Covid, is my only disclaimer. I imagine it would be harder to achieve these days.

You’re right. I was being asshole. Sorry.

I was mostly trying to point out the OP should get a pro detailer to look at the problem before using solvents that might hose the clearcoat.

It was the tire shine. Make sure you scrub the hell out of your tires to get all the old tire shine off of the tires. It was most likely a petroleum base product. I would recommend you always wash your tires and then
use Adams VRT, it is a water-based tire shine that has a matte/satin finish. I would use very little, and it is mostly dry to the touch, but still wipe with a paper towel and you should be good.

    UPDATE:

3 weeks have passed… THEY ARE FADING from paint and also from PPF film. The fading is more noticeable or “faster” in the paint (non ppf area). They are very, very faded so far. Phewww that was a close one. I will keep updating for the benefit of this community.

Use Acetone and then wipe off with a microfiber and some quick detailer. If acetone doesn't take it off - nothing will. And no acetone will not eat through your clearcoat provided you wipe off any residue afterwards.

Great news. Knowing what it was, it should disappear completely. And you did not have to use any harsh chemicals, abrasives, polishing, the dealership, etc. to take care of it.

Update 2023: They are 100% gone.

if this happens to you, don’t panic, they will fade with time.

Yep I can confirm, I had a similar issue when I got new tires and the shop sprayed tire shine on the new wheels. I scrubbed, clay bar, etc but nothing worked till I just left em alone and they faded in the sun over time. Thankfully my spots were mostly on the underside of the fenders.

But yes if this does happen to you just wash the spots well and then leave them alone, they will fade then go away over time.

If the issue is not removed with this product, the issue is with the paint. Dealer wii use this product or something similar before going down the respray route. This product is safe to use on automotive finishes.

WTF, take it back to the dealer. That's the only people to help you. Don't apply all kinds of stupid shat to your brand new truck. Acetone on a new truck? uhhhh..
