    Hey guys,

I've got a camping trip planned next weekend in El Dorado National Forest in California. There are still fire restrictions that arent allowing us to have any sort of Ignition started propane, gas, wood or any other type of fires. Camping with no fire is already not that great, but with no propane to cook hot foods?! what a bummer.

I was thinking I could get a cheap single electric burner to plug into the plug in the bed of the truck. Has anyone else tried this or have one you use that you can recommend?

Any other ideas on how I can cook hot food without fire or propane? Thanks for the help.

Pay attention to the Wattage draw. 100W at 115V is not very many Amps. Even 400W at 115V tain't much.

Confirm your Current and Wattage on the appliance and be under the Taco limits.

You might consider MRE as an option.

Probably too much draw, heating elements require a lot. Camping without fire "wood" suck. Could always cook your food in foil on the hot exhaust manifold of the truck

I haven't been in Math class for a long time.....

But 100W is not close to 1/3 of 1000W.

I would think you could find some hot coals lying around somewhere close by.......

Considering the entire state of California is on fire...at least according to the news cast and the talking heads.
