SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
How's that work in mid-winter when there is 14" of snow on the roof and 20% sunlight? That thing got enough juice to charge five vehicles every night on top of the rest? It's a nice augment, but initial costs are way too high and the ROI is not there for most people. My electric bill is under $100 per month, so based on your figures I would be over 12 years to ROI, and by that point it would be breaking - not to mention it would be useless for most of the months due to the aforementioned snow and lack of sunlight. I'll hold out for a fusion generator or a warp core that I can connect up to.

True but you can get 300 miles a tank after a few minutes of refilling versus the current recharging time. I think once that gets closer to ICE fueling time, more people will switch over to EV

It depends on what your state regulations when it comes to how much you can put back on the grid and get paid for. For a $100 average electrical bill your panel needs would be less than half of what mine are. When you have sunlight in the summer your hours will be longer and you can generate more then. As said before all depends on the regs regarding utilities.

My initial cost was $17K. With the Fed solar tax rebate (it's less now) I ended up paying about $12k but did not use the rebate to pay off the solar loan as the interest rate on it was ridiculously low.

Average time at a super charger station is about 45 minutes. That's enough time to use the bathroom and get some food.

Range of the Tesla 3 is about 315 miles. Range and charging times are only going to get better so we're going to see a lot more EV cars.

I'm no EV fanboy but can see where we will be. I'll still own an ICE sportscar for track days as you really can't beat the sound of the exhaust wailing......

You can buy a used Model S for under 50k and beat a Corvette

Chevy Volt for around $35k new

    Nissan Leaf $32k new

    Tesla Cybertruck $39k new

Given the demographic of model S owners, locally, doubt they care about vette owners.

They think vette owners are all named bubba, married to their sisters, fake gold chain, and are sub human

I am not all against electric vehicles. However I am against having them jammed down our throats. For me, the technology is just not there yet. I would like something that can go more than 300 miles +/- before needing a multiple hour recharge.

Maybe hybrid is something more practical at this time.

My usual monthly electricity bill runs around $135, the 2 quotes that claim could deliver 100 percent of my needs were around 30 grand, the other 2 quotes claimed 70 percent of my power and were around 25 grand. I am sure the nice weather in your area along with competition among companies helps lower the overall costs.

No was is forcing people to buy electric or jamming them down our throats from what i see, and I don't get that impression. Milage is above 300 for some models but most aren't there yet which is a current problem but also going to be less than a problem as the tech improves.

That's crazy expensive and understand why you wouldn't do it. As demand for electric cars surges and we reduce our use of fossil fuels that cost has got to come down for you.

Right and all of those quotes were for grid tied systems, hopefully the cost of alternative energies drop to the level of traditional energies at some point.

Can’t wait for all these people with 60 amp service panels, with down on their luck 2nd cousin living in the basement cooking meth on the stove, 6 kids up stairs charging their phones and iPads, playing PlayStation on the 55” tv while their mom is cooking dinner, running the washer, dryer and trying to blow dry her hair to leave to take Becky to dance class. Little Jimmy doesn’t like meatloaf so he’s putting some pizza rolls in the 1200w microwave. All the mean while the car is in the driveway charging with a 14 gauge extension cord because they didn’t have the money to hire an electrician to give them the proper service and connection they needed in the first place. Bob the sales guy down played the need for a real charging station just to make the sale at the dealership. And the line for one super charger station down at the town hall looks like the social services line across the street.

Fast charging stations are almost everywhere you go here. They're in business parking lots as well.

Just looked up in my city. About 20k people in the city and 20k in the town. 3 charging stations. 1 is city hall, the other is at a dealership I worked at and not open to the public. Looks like the other one is in a trailer park. Weird place for one. So I’d say pretty much outside of California or maybe some major city, there’s a lot of infrastructure work to be done if the plan is for most vehicles to be electric.

That’s not an accurate representation. Most of those across the US are at car dealers. Sure you may be able to charge your car there if getting service work or if you’re a customer. There’s 236 million cars registered. Not nearly enough charging stations if those were mostly electric cars. Not to mention the grid in most areas can’t currently handle the load and capacity
