I look at this a completely different way. With technology being what it is, why do the headlights have to look like typical headlights at all? I'm all for $1300 headlights being as small as possible.

With ya on the short bed though.

Another thing to think about when you look at any EVs battery capacity (in kW hrs... idk why they just don’t say joules , it’s like reporting distance in miles per hour , hours ... dumb) is also the vehicles efficiency or how well it can you use that amount of battery energy storage. It’s would be the mpg equivalent that they all report. Tesla , again , is typical the most efficient one which means longer range for less battery (cost)

As a former 2004 F250 owner with the 6.0 engine I will disagree with you. Only after I spent a ridiculous amount of money bulletproofing the engine did I feel comfortable with it.

Ford shit the bed with that truck. Now the 7.3 was amazing. The problem was the tech on a high-end truck in 04 was non-existent which is a little ridiculous. It's a problem toyota hasn't seemed to have solved either as my 2000 Infiniti G20 had better climate control and a whole host of better interior options than my 2017 tacoma.

Not the same. It’s watts times hours vs miles divided by hours. So many watts for so many hours is a capacity measurement but miles per hour is a speed measurement. Watts divided by hours would be the rate of consumption, a likewise moment to moment bit of information.

    What ?

Ya dude simple dimensional analysis bud

    power * time = energy

They should just report energy is all I’m saying. I gave the analogy of speed * time = distance . No one refers to distance in terms of “mph times time”. It was an analogy to make you see what I’m saying . KW hrs is stupid and redundant as hell. Just say joules . It’s like saying coulomb volts to describe energy, equally as confusing and dumb . I always hated that shit in school (applied physics major). All energy units should be in joules . Not even calories. It pisses me off so bad.

That last point is absolutely relevant. How well an EV uses the limited energy will determine how far it can go . Now days this “efficiency” is reported on the window sticker as “mpg equivalent”.

I agree that capacity should be a separate rating from efficiency. Battery storage has been this way for a long time and I’ve yet to see them rated other than in mAhr, Ahr, or Whr for larger sizes like power wall or drive battery.

It smacks of tilting at windmills given the vehemence over an entrenched system but he’s not wrong. Two different vehicles having the same battery might not have the same range and the difference would be in efficiency. I haven’t looked at any ev window stickers so I’d like to see one before loading my steed with armor and lance.

It's a problem Toyota solved, it's not a solution they've implemented short of the higher end trims. Hell, my '88 Supra has auto climate control allowing you to just set the temp, so it's not a matter of what Toyota is capable of so much aswhat Toyota is going to offer this demographic at a given price point.

    True.

Trucks always seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to interior technology and comfort. My F250 was a dinosaur compared to even base level passenger cars in 2004.

After jumping in my buddies Ram 1500 with the massive screen and the rest of the tech that comes standard it's hard to believe the toyota is so behind the curve of other manufacturers.

I was watching this crazy hick beat this poor Hilux like they did in the that infamous Top Gear episode:

...Then I was thinking, if it was an EV truck , a lot of that testing wouldn't be too bad for the engine/transmission/t case tests (cuz there is none). When you flip a truck over it's going to stall due to gravity and possible oil delivery /coolant delivery issues. Also the tranny fluid might not circulate correctly or leak upside down and can even leak out of the top shifter and drip all over you for a manual transmission (happen to me in an old Toyota with a 5 speed when we rolled over. gear oil all over me :( ) . Speaking of flipping over, probably going to be much harder to flip an EV due to low center of gravity which is important off road at high and low speeds. Humm, another bummer with beating a truck is keeping air filters dust and water free. Also when going through water , getting water in the exhaust system is not cool. No worry with EV.

For suspension I am assuming the suspension will be the same or less strong due to the EVs massive ass weight. Might want to get after market 4130 control arms and spindles with big ass uniballs pivots. Also im 99% sure that Air ride will be extremely shitty for high speed stuff in both the Rivian and Cyber. I hope fox/king/icon makes a bolt in coil over option that is at least 3.0" with a remote resi cuz that heavy tank will need all the help it can get. I am assuming CV axle will be the same shit as any full size truck , so weak and shitty. Might need to spend more money for RCV axles or 930 ones. i think the hubs will be a unit bearing style like most full size IFS 4x4 trucks. If they are floated snouts that would amazing and plenty strong but probably not. Id convert to fully floated hubs on all 4 wheels especially with 35" + tires and all that weight.

For the body, the entire underside is light years better than our vulnerable trucks with all the sensitive bits under there. I guess we could spend a bunch of money and add skip plates . but the skids just get in the way of oil changes and service (EV no service and underside is full skid). For the cyber it's stainless steel so I'm guess that's going to be more durable vs out thin mild steel body trucks. Also no paint. hell ya . no clear coat to worry about, or pain chips, or rust, or waxing to protect it from the sun or elements. That is x100 points right there.

So yes . still buy the EV, but you might have to add totally custom suspension / CVs/ hubs and coil overs (which you need to do for any stock truck anyways)

Tesla is the #1 selling luxury car brand in the US right now. Unless you think Mercedes and BMW are also brands unable to scale. Perhaps you should do some research instead of getting “information” from what I can only assume are Facebook forwards.

He drove almost 1000 miles in a day. So blows the myth out of the water for those that say you can't take long road trips. Oh and he did have to stop and charge on the way. Duh

And again , that boner didn’t have to spend 150 bucks in gas on a single road trip. Nor did he have to speed up his oil change interval (30 bucks). All while autopilot let him doze off...

The hell is wrong with most humans . It must have been difficult explaining to people how oil blubber fuel lamps are not as good as electric light bulbs. They must have been like “oh gosh idk I know where to buy whale oil , I hear electricity can kill a man. I don’t know it might be considered a sin to use pure bright electric light, instead of this traditional piss yellow dim ass fire lamp”.
That’s what you all sound like .
