    Not to mention that the entire axle assembly plus half the rear drive shaft is also unsprung weight. Depending on where the bearing surface is the angular momentum might not change nearly as much as one might think. With no axles there’s no reason the bearings half to be a particular diameter. There’s room for a lot of engineering to be developed. Integrated regenerative braking would reduce the size of mechanical brakes and the heat they produce.
