True, but by the time all ICE cars have been phased out by their owners won't be until closer to years 2050-2060 or longer

Hey, when you peel away all the layers to this Onion there is only one conclusion: 7 billion humans is bad for the environment. In fact I think if we ran this through DeepMind or Watson the conclusion would be similar: Less people = better planet.

Question is how is that accomplished? War? Virus? Famine? Maybe a biblical flood??

Not just at night. A lot of businesses in BF nowhere VA are starting to set up charging stations for their employees. As of right now this is a small portion of the lot to support the few Teslas, Nissan Leafs, etc. that exist in the wild, but what happens when those become the majority? What is the logistical impact going to be to businesses if they chose to provide charging stations to a few vehicles? Several vehicles? What about service companies that provide electricity to customers? Now not only do they have to consider the impact of these charging stations for their power costs and bottom line, but also opens up the pathway for a lot of these vehicles to be charged during peak hours.

I.M.O. in E.V.'s it will not be the drive line motors that fail it will be the control system and accessories that fail the most.

    - EV's are 10 times LESS likely to catch fire.
    - Extracting people from EV requires de powering HV system.
    - Working on EV's is far more dangerous.
    - Repairing EV's like Tesla is far more costly. Also takes much longer(usually months).
    - Will never fully recycle EV batteries. This is a major issue.
    - I'll have an ICE car til the day I die. As long as fuel can be purchased.
    - Have been trained and worked on EV's they SUCK.

Hopefully a lot of those people will be telecommuting as opposed to actually driving in.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Oh... I totally agree. Way too many people on this planet.

War would be my best answer. Stupid people tend to die faster in a conflict. There are entirely too many stupid people on this planet.

    1. False
    3. Dunno what HV is.
    3. Possible but if done right it's just as dangerous as ICE cars
    4. False, repair cost per hour is comparable to ICE cars. Time wasn't more either.
    5. False, there are EV battery recyclers now and batteries are repurposed if thy are healthy enough.
    6. Good for you.
    7. Well refuse to work on EV''s then.

You mean the accessories and control systems that already exist in our shiny new Tacomas?
I think I read recently - probably somewhere on this forum (so take any credibility with a grain of salt) - that Tesla just advises they let the fires burn out and self extinguish rather than try to put them out.

Still means they are charging through out the day. May not be as heavy of a power draw as if they plugged in after commuting to work, but still drawing during peak hours.

It’s been in development for years. There have been completely solar aircraft as well. There have been nuclear powered aircraft as well :)

The biggest hurdle (from my understanding & experience in ‘conventional’ aerospace) is the sheer weight of batteries. As of now, planes get more efficient the longer they’re in flight (as gas burns down, they reduce weight). With batteries they’re always pulling that load from wheels up to wheels down. So we need to get battery weight down significantly and/or improve efficiency with current engines drastically before they become something that’s load-bearing. But the gov and even commercial companies have been doing a lot of work lately.

    back to bone stock.
    love it.

the past month, I have seriously considered a Prius with roof rack to get me and my Kayak to fishing spots. I blew a lot of gas In that month, fishing various distant lakes.

i'm putting solar panels on my house anyways. our fossil fuels wont last forever anyways, and the pricing trends up, not down. ever.

I am happy everyone is getting on the EV bandwagon. the competition will hopefully encourage innovations and lower pricing. my wifes next car will be a TESLA. she said it. we shall see.

How does a place like Los Angeles plan on keeping all these electric cars charged when they can't even handle air conditioner demand peaks in the summer??

Also, grid control = easy population movement control if all the vehicles are electric

The EV infrastructure won't be needed right away, it will phase in. Hopefully you would think they'd get their stuff together quick. And Texas too.

Can you please back this up with facts/logic/data? I’m happy to read articles if you can provide - but from my reading several of those points are simply not true.

I live in an area in ca that agreed they needed a sewer system installed 40 years ago. It took 40 years of argueing about how to do it and ended up costing millions of dollars because “we can’t agree on shit”.
